Biafra: CP Umar warns Kanu-You & IPOB cannot stop Anambra elections.

The new Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Garba Umar has told Biafra and IPOB advocate, Nnamdi Kanu that he is incapable of stopping the free franchise of the people of the state to vote for the governor of the state, come the gubernatorial elections.

CP Umar spoke in reaction to a statement credited to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu that the governorship election in Anambra State scheduled for November by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, won’t hold if the Federal Government fails to recognize the Republic of Biafra.

Umar said Saturday that neither Kanu nor his group have powers to stop the November election.

The CP who was formerly in charge IGP Monitoring Unit, IGP Special Forces Squads and Intelligence Units, warned that the police would do whatever it takes, to ensure there is a peaceful election in the state.

He said, “The election has been fixed by relevant federal government agency. Nobody can stop it.

“We have the capacity to provide a peaceful atmosphere in Anambra State for that election.

I have not heard from IPOB that it would stop the election, apart from what was published in the media. But that is for the media.

Nobody or group can issue such threat and succeed, because we have all it will take to subdue such threat. No group can do that.

“The people of the state have the right to have periodic elections to choose their leaders; nobody or group can stop them from exercising such right.

“We can’t allow it. It’s no done. We are fully on the ground and we can suppress such threats,” he said.

Recall that reports that Kanu warned recently that the governorship election in Anambra State in November this tear may not hold if the Federal Government fails to recognize the Republic of Biafra.

On its part, the Apex Igbo cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo on Wednesday washed its hands off the Kanu warning saying that Kanu should not arrogate to himself as the supreme leader of Igbo land.
