Birnin- Gwari-Minna-Funtua: Police Arrest, Parade 37 Notorious Kidnapping /Armed Robbery Gangs Members; Kill 6 Kidnappers in Shootout.

The Nigeria Police Force on Friday paraded 37 vicious kidnappers, armed robbers and cattle rustlers terrorizing travellers and people living in communities in Kaduna, Minna, Tegina, Birnin Gwari – Funtua within Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara States.

 The arrest of the criminals followed the crime prevention and detection operations of the Police Force which has been strengthened with additional Police Personnel and needed logistics by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris to proactively tackle the menace of Kidnappings, armed robberies, Trans-border Car Snatching and other violent crimes throughout the country.

 Speaking during the paraded of the criminals in Suleija, Niger State, Force Public Relations Officer, Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood said, “The Commander of the IGP Special Tactical Squad (STS) and his personnel under the Operation Absolute Sanity stormed and raided some identified kidnappers den, camps, Black spots and Criminal hideouts in the forests located in Kaduna, Minna, Tegina, Birnin gwari – Funtua within Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara States.

 “The Special Tactical Squad successfully smashed Six (6) notorious gangs and arrested the 37 suspects in the act of kidnapping and collection of ransom; some of their victims’ names withheld were rescued from their captivity unhurt and were reunited with their families”.

 Acting DCP Moshood said some of the suspects were also arrested for armed robberies, multiple cars snatching and crossing them to Niger Republic and other neighbouring countries adding that six (6) of the suspects were killed during exchange of fire between the Police team and the suspected kidnappers/bandits.

 He noted that all the suspects arrested confessed to the crime and admitted to the various roles they played in the commission of these capital offences.

 “They will be arraigned in Court on completion of investigation. However, investigation is being intensified to arrest other suspects at large”.

 The 37 suspects are and their offences are Gang of vicious kidnappers and armed robbers include-Isah Auta 30yrs – Gang Leader,  Jibrin Haruna a.k.a JIBRIL 21YRS,   Jibrin Mohammed, 24yrs, Shehu Mohammed  22yrs,  Mohamed Farida 35yrs  and Abubakar Ahmed 30yrs, Sale Ahmed a.k.a Toro 28yrs – Gang Leader,  Yusuf Hassan 24yrs,  Yusuf Hassan Sokoto- 53yrs and  Isah Sani 54yrs

 Others are  Mohammed Bello a.k.a Beture 20yrs – Gang Leader, Bello Hassan a.k.a Bekolo 20yrs, Abubakar Jasiri 19yrs, Tambaya Abdulahi 29yrs, Shehu Suleman 24yrs, Mohammed Isah 21yrs, Ayuba Sale 40yrs-Gang Leader, Timothy Peter 26yrs, Abubakar Sadiq 29yrs, Emmanuel Garba 32yrs, Dahiru Sule 28yrs, and Nanfon Dalil 19yrs.

Other armed robbers and kidnappers arrested are Abdulrahman Mohammed 19yrs, Sani Yahaya 27yrs (Armourer), Rabiu Adamu 20yrs, John Mathew 30yrs, El-Amin Ahmed 20yrs, Shamsudeen Bala 18yrs, Abdulahi Usman a.k.a Akale 72YRS – Gang Leader, Salisu Haruna 54yrs, Arma Yau Yakubu 45yrs, Patrick Solomon 29yrs, Sadiq Ashaja 42yrs, Yusuf ALlhasan 35yrs, Imail Sani 40yrs and Alabi Surajo 24yrs, Ja’faru Alhaji.

Exhibits recovered from the gangs include 4 Pump Action Guns, 3 AK47 Rifles, 3 single Barrel Guns, 2 Dane Guns, 65 AK47 Live Ammunition, 17 exotic vehicles of different makes, 15 Cattle, and 80 Sheep.
