Boko Haram: Suicide bombers kill over 50, injures any in Adamawa

About 50 persons were confirmed dead in the early hours of Tuesday when two suicide bombers successfully attacked a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa state.

Eye-witness accounts said the suicide attack occurred at Shiwa mosque located at Anguwar Medina in Yelwa quarters of Mubi, the commercial nerve Centre of Adamawa state.

The two suicide bombers, two females were said to have come out from two different directions and into the mosque at about 5am as Muslim worshippers were observing the morning prayers.

One of the eyewitness, told reporters that he escaped death by the whiskers noting, “My house is close to the mosque. I was almost late for the prayers and as I was rushing, I saw two supposed worshippers rushing to enter the mosque though there was some gap between me and them.

“The moment they two females entered the mosque there was a loud bang as if they detonated bombs”.

Continuing the eye-witness who was physically shivering said, “The bombers waited until the nearly 150 people capacity venue was filled to capacity before the suicide attack.

Chairman of Mubi North Local Government Area, Alhaji Musa Bello while confirming the suicide attack and loss of lives, could not however give the casualty figure saying it is being compiled but that many people died in the blast and many injured.

Adamawa State Police PRO, SP Othman Abubakar who confirmed the attack said 50 persons were confirmed killed and that investigation into the incident is underway.
