Boko Haram: Troops Neutralize 6 Terrorists in Ambush, intercept fleeing terrorists; provide vaccination to Children IDPs

The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that it troops prosecuting clearance operation against remnants of Boko Haram, successfully ambushed a group of terrorists preparing for an attack and killed 6 of the sect members in a shootout in Dikwa LGA on Monday.

Also, troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade intercepted and arrested two fleeing members of the group in Sasawa village in Geidam LGA.

In the same vein, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in addition to patrols and clearance operations are also engaging in vaccinating children in their area of responsibility.

Consequently, a total of 1,227 children have benefitted from the immunization and provision of medical aid which has so far taken place in over 13 villages within Yunusari LGA, Yobe State.

Making the disclosure in a statement, Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman said, “Troops of 22 Brigade Dikwa, under 7 Division of Operation Lafiya Dole in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force on Monday 7th August 2017, ambushed suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists between Bulabirin and Mongole villages of Dikwa Local Government Area  in Borno State.

“During an encounter, the troops neutralized 6 terrorists, while several others sustained various bullet wounds.

“Troops also recovered 6 Bicycles, 3 Dane guns and 1 Machete from the terrorists.

“The Nigerian Army will sustain the clearance operation until unrepentant terrorists are eliminated from the shores of Nigeria”.

“Similarly, troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, Operation Lafiya Dole on Tuesday 8th August 2017, intercepted fleeing Boko Haram terrorists members named Kiri Imoru and Tijjani Goni at Sasawa village.

“The two terrorists claimed to escape from a hideout at Futchumaram, Geidam Local Government Area.

In the same vein, “troops of 159 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, Operation Lafiya Dole, in addition to patrols and clearance operations also vaccinate children in their area of responsibility.

“The immunization took place in over 13 villages within Yunusari LGA, Yobe State in which total of 1227 children were benefited in addition to provision of medical aid by the unit’s medical orderly.
