Breakthrough: Delta Police Rescue Abducted Women from Kidnappers Den in Ughelli, Arrest Suspects, Recover Automatic Rifles, Stolen Vehicle.

Following a diligent and proactive investigation carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Ibrahim Zanna, detectives have successfully tracked and rescued two kidnapped women, Mrs. Cookeyan Lydia and Mrs. Akomaye Justina from the den of their kidnappers in Ughelli unhurt.

A third victim, a medical doctor who was also kidnapped by the gang had earlier being released hours after he parted with a large sum of money as ransom before Police detectives struck.

Two automatic pump action rifles with 14 live cartridges were recovered from the kidnappers den as one gang member was arrested.

Meanwhile, another wanted kidnapper who attempted to abduct a woman at Issele-Uku was arrested with a cut to size gun fully loaded during a stop and search operation of a passenger bus by the police along Benin-Asaba Expressway.

Similarly, a stolen Audi Salon Car was recovered at Enerhen Junction, Warri, when police gave a hot chase to 4 hoodlums inside the car from McDermott road. 3 of the hoodlums later jumped out of the car and fled. The driver was however arrested.

 Giving details of the rescue and arrests, the Police said, “On Saturday 4th November 2017, at about 4.30pm, sequel to the manhunt of some kidnapping suspects that kidnapped on Dr. Oghemeruona Mac-Asore of Frank Omare Estate on Wednesday 25th October, and Mrs. Cookeyan Lydia aged 33years, of no. 3 Okpoku Str, off Jakpa road, Warri and Mrs. Akomaye Justina aged 32 years of KM 4 Refinery road, Warri on Tuesday 31st October 2017 at Jakpa road, Ekpan respectively, the police swung into action.

  “Eagle Net detectives led to Oseifun community in Ughelli South LGA where one Paul Edjedegba aged 29years of Grace Primary School road, Oseifun Community was eventually arrested and the two female victims mentioned above rescued unhurt.

 “The doctor had earlier been released after payment of ransom. Two Automatic Pump Action Rifles with  14 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

 “Efforts are on to arrest the remaining members of the gang still at large”.

 On the arrest of kidnapper on Benin-Asaba road, the Police said, “On Saturday 4th November 2017, at about 10. 30am, while a team led by Inspector John Andesikuleb was on stop and search duty along Benin-Asaba expressway by Eastern Metal Company, Edo-Ogwashi, they intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus with Delta Commercial colour, Reg No. ASB 560 ZH.

 “The bus was loaded with passengers heading from Agbor to Onitsha and driven by one Otuye Michael of no. 9 Imuya by Ijeh Street, Agbor.

 “Consequent upon search of the vehicle, one Okechukwu Okpah aged 27 years of Lagos/Issele-Uku road, was arrested with a locally made single barrel gun cut to size and loaded with one live cartridge and one jack knife.

 “His gang member by name Chizel, surname and address unknown, took to his heels during the search and the arrested suspect confessed to the attempted kidnap of a woman at Issele-Uku on Thursday, 2nd November 2017.

 He has been handed over to SAKCCS (Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crimes Squad), with the exhibits and the driver for further investigation.

 Furthermore, on the recovered stolen vehicle in Warri, the police said, “On Friday 3rd November 2017, at about 10.10pm, men of Anti-Robbery team led by ASP Albert Isoa came to the station and reported that on same date, at about 9.45pm while on Township patrol with a team along McDermott Road by Warri-Sapele road, his team intercepted one Audi Saloon car.

 The intercepted Audi car has Reg. No. TDU 94 EV, Engine No. ABT180689 and Chassis No. WAUZZZ8CZPA238249, Ash Coloured, with 4 boys inside.

 “Immediately they sighted the police van, they zoomed off towards Enerhen road and the patrol team gave them a hot chase. On getting to Enerhen Junction, 3 boys jumped out from the moving vehicle and escaped while the driver of the car who later gave his name as Kingsley John was arrested with the vehicle key in his hand.”
