Brigadier-General Barguma Tete (Rtd), Former Defence Adviser to China Dies in Kaduna

Brigadier General Barguma Bajeh Tete (Rtd), a former Defence Adviser of Nigeria to China and one time Chief Instructor, Joint Services at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, has passed on in Kaduna
.
He died at the Nigerian Army 44 Reference Hospital, Kaduna on Saturday after a protacted ailment.
Air Commodore Sani Zakari of AANDEC, Alumni Association of National Defence College confirmed the demise of the retired officer in Abuja.
Zakari said, “I am pained to relay the demise of Brig Gen BB Tete (Rtd) at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna early on 07 September 24. That was after a protracted ailment.
“He was in the Armour Corps and served in many capacities including Staff, Command, Directing Staff, Chief Instructor and Diplomat.
“He was Chief Instructor in Joint Services Department of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji from where he was nominated to attend National War College Course 12 in 2003.
“Prior to his diplomatic posting to Beijing in 2005, he was a member of the Implementation Committee on Presidential Car Loan Scheme to Military officers (Representative of Army Head Quarters).
“He also served as a Special Assistant to one time Senate President (Brig Gen David Mark).
“The nearly 70 yrs old was a member of NDA 20th Regular Course and a Burmese.
“He served as Defence Attache in the Embassy of Nigeria Beijing from where he retired in December 2008.
“While in China, he was Chairman Africa and Middle East Group (AMEG) with then Group Capt Sani Zakari his Deputy as Secretary AMEG.
“Together they made Nigeria proud in China, Japan, North Korea and Vietnam.
“A native of Kaninkon near Kafanchan of Kafanchan LGA Kaduna State, the General was happily married to Mrs Jane Tete together with whom they had 3 sons and one daughter.
“He was a member of One Star Veterans Association, NDA 20th Regular Course forum, Nigerian Army Armoured Officers’ forum, Allumni Association of National Defense College (AANDEC), Retired Servicemen forum Mando and more.
“He was a calm gentleman who will be missed by several Veterans and Diplomats alike.
“The corpse is at the 44 NARHK morgue pending funeral arrangements from the family.”
