Brigadier General Umar Tama Musa Assumes Office as 38th Commander Guards Brigade; As Major General MS Yusuf moves to 6 Division.

A New Guards Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Umar Tama Musa has taken over Command in Abuja.

He takes over from Major General Musa Sani Yusuf, who is moving to Port Harcourt as the General Officer Commanding 6 division of the Nigerian Army.

Until his appointment as the Guards Brigade Commander, Brigadier General UT Musa was the Director of Recruitment at Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking shortly after taking over, the new Brigade Commander promised to improve on discipline, regimentation of troops which are the hallmarks of the elite Guards Brigade.

He assured residents of the FCT that under his command, maintenance of security of lives and property as well as the overall vigilance will be given priority as he will work in synergy with sister security organizations.

Primarily, the new Commander who said he is not new to the operations of Guards Brigade said, “We are ready for the task of protecting the Presidential Villa, Mr. President and ensuring peace in the FCT.

In a brief remark after handing over, Major General MS Yusuf said “I want to sincerely appreciate everybody including the soldiers and officers as well as the media for the support while I served as Commander of the Brigade.

“The authority felt I have done enough to merit the rank I am wearing today, thanks to you all. I want to urge you all and I want to urge you all to give the same support to my successor.

“Note that when you do your best in any assignment given to you, you are not doing it for the commander, you are doing it for yourself. You must remain discipline, committed” he added.
