President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight over the appointment of the Minister of Environment, Mrs. Amina Mohammed as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.
Speaking with the in-coming Secretary- General, Mr Antonio Guterres who called to inform President Buhari of his decision to name Mrs. Mohammed as his Deputy yesterday, the president used the opportunity to reiterate his support and congratulations to Mr. Antonio Guterres on his upcoming tenure in the UN.

He endorsed the selection of Mrs. Mohammed as the next Deputy Secretary General of the UN saying “By her appointment, Nigeria has been honoured.”
President Buhari thanked Mrs. Mohammed for her untiring contribution to transform Nigeria and said he looks forward to sustained collaboration between the UN and Nigeria.
He said he had no doubt that she will continue to make Nigeria proud at the global level.
The minister is expected to transit to her new role in March 2017.
