Buhari orders AGF to investigate top officials over Corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Attorney General of the Federation to probe the involvement of top officials of his administration accused of corruption,

Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu who disclosed this in a statement said any official found liable “will not escape prosecution.”

The statement titled, ‘President Buhari will wage a relentless war against corruption’ reads, “The attention of the presidency has been drawn to a number of reports in the media, in which various accusations of corruption have been leveled against some top officials in the administration.

“In that regard, President Buhari has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate the involvement of any top government officials accused of any wrong-doing.

“If any of them are liable they (sic) will not escape prosecution.”

Though no name was mentioned in the statement by the Presidency, Nigeria’s Senate last week called for the resignation of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal over contract awarded to a company linked to him.

Already the Senate said the world will watch to see how the presidency handles its report on the SGF which will be forwarded from the upper legislative chambers soon.
