The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen TY Buratai was honoured as the Most Outstanding Chief of Army Staff on 25th of February 2020 by Society Watch Magazine at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
The award was presented to the COAS in recognition of his effective leadership in the containment of banditry, terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.

During the occasion, the Nigerian Army was also awarded the Best Government Institution of the Year.
The COAS was represented at the event by Brig Gen TO Olowomeye the Director Civil Military Affairs of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Abuja who received the awards on behalf of the COAS and the Nigerian Army.
The event was attended by personalities from different walks of life including the the Governor of Nasarawa State, represented by the Director Strategic Communications and Press Affairs, Alhaji Yakubu Lamai.
Others include representative of the Minister of State for Agriculture and representative of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources as well as representative of Chief of Policy and Plans ‘Army’, Brig Gen PO Ilodibia among others.
