The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has organised a free medical outreach and donated two boreholes to residents of Dogon Fadama community in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State.
The gesture was part of activities to mark the annual ‘Exercise Camp Highland’, the final training exercise for final year cadets of the Academy.
The event also witnessed distribution of wrappers and mosquito nets to the locals.
The Commandant, Maj Gen Adeniyi Oyebade, who was represented by Deputy Commandant, AVM IS Kaita while inspecting the medical services, said the intervention was part of the civil military cooperation roles of the Academy.

He said: “The military has the primary role of protecting the territorial integrity of the country. But beyond that, we also have community development roles to enhance civil military cooperation.
“This medical outreach is part of the Exercise Camp Highland. Our cadets have been here in these communities for their final field training exercise, and we thought the communities should feel our presence, not only in terms of security, but also by way of humanitarian services.”
Special Guest of Honour, Sarkin Sudan Kontagora Alhaji Saidu Namaska represented by Col YD Salka (rtd) commended NDA for holding its exercise in his emirate. He added that the exercise has deter criminal elements from operating in the area.
Village head of Dogon fadama while thanking the Academy for assisting his community said one of major challenges his community face is shortage of water which was tackled through NDA intervention.
