Capacity Development: NASFA (Army Finance & Administration School) Graduates 475 HND & National Diploma Holders; We aim to make it Best Monotechnic in the Country – Commandant

The Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA), the military/academic institution tasked with providing training in financial adminustration amd military duties for officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Police and Para-military organizations has graduated 475 National Diploma and Higher Natiinal Diploma holders.
The graduation ceremony which held at the ultra-modern conference hell of NASFA in Apapa, Lagos had in attendance, the Chairman, Governing Board, and Chief of Accounts and Budget, Major General AA Fayemiwo, the Chief of Accounts and Budget,Nigerian Airforce, Air Vice Marshal Uchechi Nwangwu and the Commandant of NASFA, Brigadier General Julius Osifo among others.
Graduating Officers were drawn from the Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the NSCDC and other Para-military organizations.
Commandant of the School, Brig Gen Osifo in his welcome remarks, restated the commitment of NASFA to improving the capacity of security personnel to boost the war against insecurity in the country.
He disclosed that the institution had so far trained and produced 2,599 National Diploma and 1,943 Higher National Diploma graduates since inception pointing out that they include personnel from sister services like the NPF,Nigeria Correctional Service, NSCDC, and Nigerian Immigration Service among others.
Continuing, Brig-Gen Osifo said the objectives of setting up NASFA is aimed at sustaining the standard of academic excellence and capacity development for the Nigerian Army and other members of the armed forces and Para-military agencies.
He stated that since his assumption of office as NASFA Commandant in January, his command philosophy has been hinged on leveraging on the massive infrastructural improvements, as well as exploring ways and means to ensure NASFA becomes the very best monotechnic in the country.
In his lecture titled, ‘The Professional Accountant and Office Manager: Catalyst for Enhanced National Security’, the guest lecturer, Air Vice Marshal Uchechi Nwangwu noted that success in achieving national security imperatives can be greatly linked to the size of available resources for its management.
He observed that the total budgetary estimates of the armed forces of Nigeria are usually not released as requested while the nation’s myriads of problems and challenges keep increasing.
As a way out, AVM Nwangwu emphasized the need for military professionals to continously ensure prudence the management of limited available resources at their disposal in the quest for enhanced national security as well as finding ways to optimize the use of available resources.
“You should also ensure the security of resources at your disposal”, he said.
Furthermore, he said, “The way forward is provision of alternativr sources of funding to complementbgovernment’s efforts, continous advocacy and liaison visits as well as self development which will bring about confidence, ingenuity, good initiative, courage and knowledge on the part of accountants and other office managers.”
