Captain to Major Exams: Army Commander Reminds Candidates, Examination is Key Determinant in Career Progression

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA),  Major General Kevin Aligbe, has reminded the  candidates of the  2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) that the examination is a key determinant to their  career progression in the Nigerian Army.
Maj Gen Aligbe who doubled  as the Examination President made the pronouncement on Sunday 6 October,  2024 during his address to the candidates of 2024  CMPPE held at the Dome International Culture and Events Centre Akure, Ondo State.
He therefore urged them  to put in the seriousness and determination that would  produce the best result at the end of the exercise.
The 2024 CMPPE  is  currently holding  in 2 Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility at the Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Military Cantonment in Akure, Ondo State, Maj Gen Aligbe stated  that  the  purpose of the address was to highlight the NA expectations from the candidates as they participate in the career progression  exercise.
He  also  informed  the candidates that the examination is a golden opportunity for them to consolidate on their career, as the examination is a major prerequisite for them to attend the Junior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji or any of the subscribed staff colleges overseas, hence the need for them to qualify  requires no further emphasis .
The Examination President further stated that the examination is also an assessment of their present level of proficiency as well as to determine their capabilities in discharging their future  responsibilities in the NA.
Maj Gen Aligbe disclosed that that the examination is in-tandem with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff Lt General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja which is “To Transform the Nigerian Army into Well Trained, Equipped and Highly motivated Force Towards Achieving its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint Environment”.
He therefore urged  them to have absolute  confidence in their abilities and a dogged determination to succeed in a legally  acceptable way.
He added that there is no need for them to be pessimistic  or contemplate failure  if they have prepared well for the examination.
Earlier in his welcome address to participants of 2024 CMPPE , the Chief Host, the General Officer Commanding  2 Division NA, Maj Gen Obinna Onubogu urged the candidates to put in their best, maintain decorum and discipline in order to come out successful in the examination.
Maj Gen Onubogu also stated that the importance of the examination cannot. be over-emphasized as it is aimed at elevating the candidates to the middle cadre of the NA.
He  stated that adequate preparations have been made to ensure successful conduct of the examination.Maj Gen Onubogu reminded  the candidates on the need to abide by the rules and regulations of the examination and the requirement to maintain the highest level of integrity and discipline expected of officers and gentlemen of the NA.
The GOC also used the  forum and  thanked the Chief of Army Staff for giving the 2 Division NA opportunity to host the event.
He also assured the Examination President and his management team the unalloyed commitment and support of the officers and soldiers  of HQ 32 Artillery Brigade Akure in ensuring a hitch free 2024 CMPPE.
He also used the opportunity and requested the  participants to observe a minute silence in honour of 2 soldiers of TRADOC NA who lost their lives on their way to Akure for the conduct of 2024 CMPPE.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen Olusegun Abai, Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Maj Gen Peter Okoye, Acting Director Examination TRADOC NA, Brig Gen Godwin Nwamba, Commander 32  Artillery Brigade, Brig Gen John Lar, representatives from Army Headquarters, Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters  2 Division NA and TRADOC NA, Examination Panelists and the Directing Staff for the 2024 CMPPE amongst others.
