CAS Inter-Secondary Schools Quiz Competition 2017 Kicks Off in Abuja.

The Second Edition of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Inter-Secondary Schools Quiz and Debate Competition has commenced at the Air Force Girls’ Comprehensive School (AFGCS), Abuja.

The 3-day event, which would run from 3-5 July 2017, is aimed at promoting quality education and fostering social interaction among secondary schools in the NAF.

 The competition is expected to feature debates and quiz in current affairs, science and other topical issues. A total of 72 students drawn from the 12 NAF secondary schools are participating in the competition.

Declaring the competition open, the Chief of Administration NAF HQ, Air Vice Marshal Lawal Alao, who represented the CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the NAF through the medium of debate and quiz hopes to rekindle the spirit of healthy competitions, comradeship, confidence building and development of the right attitude in the students.

Earlier in his address, the NAF Director of Education, Air Commodore Sani Naiya, said that the debate and quiz competition was designed to improve the performance of students, adding that the best were selected to represent their various schools.

The opening ceremony witnessed the first round of debate between Air Force Secondary School, Makurdi and Air Force Military School, Jos with the topic “Can the Federal Government win the war on corruption or not?

It would be recalled that the maiden edition of the competition was held at the Air Force Secondary School, Uyo in August 2016.

In that edition, the Air Force Comprehensive School, Yola emerged the overall best in the debate category while the host came first in the quiz category.
