The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, undertook an operational visit to Katsina State on Tuesday to assess the operational readiness of security forces in addressing prevailing security challenges.
A statement by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director Defence Information said the visit was undertaken at the behest of President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Bola Tinubu.
Duringhis meeting with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, General Musa expressed gratitude for the governor’s unwavering support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and his commitment to creating a conducive environment for troops to operate effectively.

He urged the people of Katsina State to cooperate fully with security agencies, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
General Musa charged them to work together to ensure effective addressing of security challenges.
While addressing troops, the Defence Chief enjoined them to exhibit patriotism, commitment, and professionalism in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
He pledged to enhance troops’ welfare and provide adequate equipment to combat insecurity.
Governor Radda expressed appreciation for the CDS’s visit, aimed at finding lasting solutions to security challenges in the state.
He assured the CDS of the Katsina State Government’s continued support and partnership with the AFN in addressing insecurity.
The governor further assured that the state government is sensitizing the populace on the need to cooperate with security agencies and will continue to demand increased security presence in the southern part of the state.
During his visit, General Musa also paid a condolence visit to the Yaradua family, commending the late Hajia Dada Musa Yar’adua as a committed and humane woman of virtue.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and encouraged the family to build upon her legacies.
