CNS, Vice Admiral Ogalla tasks Officers and Ratings on Mental Alertness & Physical Fitness for Optimal Performance as over 1,000 Personnel conduct 2nd Quarter Route March in Abuja

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vuce Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla on Saturday, 13th July 2024 led over 1,000 Nigerian Navy personnel on the second quarter Route March at Naval Unit Parade Ground Asokoro, Abuja.
Represented by Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezeade, Chief of Administration, the CNS said personnel of the Nigerian Navy have done well in their conduct, noting that the essence of the exercise is for personnel to be physically fit for the Naval duty they have been assigned to do.
“The essence is to condition our bodies to ensure that we are physically fit.”
According to him, the exercise is to create awareness for citizend to know they have a Navy strong enough to carry out task and to promote comradeship among personnel which is observed in all Nigerian Navy formations nationwide.
“The route march and other physical exercises that we do, is to continue to condition us such that we are physically and mentally fit to be able to carry out our functions.
He reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s resolve to be combat ready and congratulated all the efforts of personnel that took part in the exercise. He encouraged them to get ready for the remaining route march before the end of the year.

Ezeade added that Military personnel must develop and maintain high levels of physical fitness, not only for optimal performance of occupational tasks but also to reduce injury risk and to ensure the mental health alertness as well.

Studies have showed that physical training volume positively protects mental strength.
Having said this, it is the duty of personnel to be ready for every situation in which the military is going to need them. Being fit is the number-one priority in any case or mission.
During the march, personnel completed the march within the specified hour covering the stretch of about 10kilometres up to AYA axis of Asokoro, Abuja.
