COAS declare 2nd Edition of Army HQ Military Secretary’s Career Planning & Management Seminar open in Abuja.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai on Tuesday Feb 25, 2020 declared open the second edition of the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary’s Career Planning and Management Seminar open in Abuja.

The objectives of the seminar which has participants (Army officers and personnel) drawn from all Army formations across the country, is to enhance officers’ understanding on issues relating to career development and military human resource management.

Describing the theme of the seminar, ‘Career Planning and Management in the Nigerian Army as a Means of Sustaining Professionalism and Effective Responsiveness in Nigerian Army Operations’ as apt, the COAS charged Commanders at all levels to ensure regular development of capacities of personnel in their formations.

He charged officers and men to always imbibe the tents of discipline which is the bedrock of regimentation noting the loyalty to constituted authority and the commander in chief of the armed forces should never be compromised.

Declaring that the Nigerian Army was on course to defeating terrorism in the country, Buratai urged troops not to relent until all remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists are flushed out of the country.

Earlier, the Military Secretary, Army, Major General Gabriel Ochigbano noted that the seminar was aimed at keeping officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army update in new trends in career planning and management even though the various operations involving personnel of the Nigerian Army.

He said, “This seminar has been organized to expose participants to contemporary approaches to military human resource management with a view to improving career planning at corps level.

“Also, noting the significance of the Nigerian Army Women Corps, the issue of Gender in career management has been introduced to make the seminar gender inclusive and balanced.

Present at the occasion were Principal Staff Officers from Army headquarters, the Naval Secretary, Rear Admiral Funebi Ogu, Major General Garba Wahab, DG of Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General Mshelbwala (rtd) and Major General Abdulkadri (rtd), both former Military Secretaries of Nigerian Army
