It was excitement galore and display of skills as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) football team was on Thursday forced into a 2-2 draw by Nollywood stars of the Actors Guild of Nigerian team in the 2019 NADCEL novelty match played at the Ikeja cantonment football pitch in Lagos Lagos state.
The opening goal was scored by the Chief of Training and Operation, Major General Lamidi Adeosun in the first half of the game after a scientific pass from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General O Azinta.
The Actors Guild through Mr Steve Eboh equalized the goal in the last minutes of the first half.
Not relenting, the Commander Nigerian Army Engineers, Major General Malu in the second half of the game dribbled many of the Actors Guild team to score the 2nd goal for the COAS team amidst jubilation from spectators.

This jubilation however fizzled out when a player from the Guild of Actors team mesmerized the central defence of the COAS team before firing a shot outside the penalty box to equalize the second goal.
The match ended 2-2.
The COAS , represented by the Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation (CASE ), Major General AO Shodunke in his remarks congratulated the teams for playing a fair game in line with football rules.
He described the novelty match as one of the efforts of the Civil/Military Affairs department of the Nigerian Army in maintain excellent civil/military relations with Nigerian citizens.
It would be recalled that the Actors Guild of Nigerian during a courtesy call on the COAS in Abuja requested for a novelty match which was obliged the Army Chief.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to the teams and some deserving players who performed extraordinarily during the match.
Dignitaries that graced the occason include senior military officers, members of Actors guild of Nigeria, captains of industries , military personnel families and others.
