Communal Clashes – Amai/Eziopkor\ Umuebu: Traditional Rulers agree Cessation of Hostilities, delineation of boundaries; urge Delta Police CP to investigate culprit caught with human parts in Abavo

After several months of clashes between indigenes Amai, Eziokpor and Umuebu communities leading to several loss of lives and destruction of property, a peace meeting has been held between by leaders of the communities where it was agreed that the boundaries be delineated by the Delta state government.
 
Present at the meeting which held at the palace of HRM Akpomeyoma Majoroh, Ojeta 11 at Oruarivie-Abraka on Tuesday, were HRM Donald Ekereruche, the Ebu of Umuebu, HRM Paul Solomon Ifeneziuche, the Igwete of Amai kingdom and Chief KS Otilije, the Onochieze of Eziokpor who was represented by Chief Gabriel Uti as well as Superintendent of Police, David Ndubueze 2i/c, DPO, Obiaruku division.
 
A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting to discuss ways of reaching a lasting solution to the perennial clashes reads, “As it concerns Umuebu kingdom and Amai kingdom, the two kings agreed that – Both kings agreed to work on the basis of the Delta State Government peace accord of 2007, chaired by PES Okoh.
 
“Both kings hereby request the Delta State Government to proceed to delineate the boundaries between Umuebu and Amai.
 
“Both kings also agreed that after due consultation with their people, they would meet again on the 26th, June 2017, for further deliberation on the delineation and other issues.
 
As it concerns Amai and Eziokpor, the leaders agreed “that the abandoned demarcation process of the disputed land should be revived”.
 
“The three communities agreed to cease hostilities forthwith with a pledge to maintain peace.
 
“They called on the Delta State Government to investigate the case of one Felix Chibogwu Inalu who was arrested with human parts at Abavo.
 
“They unanimously urged that the matter should not be treated lightly
 
The three communities then appreciated the assistance of HRM Akpoyoma Majoroh, the Ovie of Oruaivie-Abraka for hosting the meeting. They also thanked SP Davidson Ndubueze 2i/c Obiaruku Police division for attending the meeting”.
 
Meanwhile, CP Zanna confirmed that armed villagers of Ogbole-Ogume community in Ndokwa shot two herdsmen, two Cows and injured others along Ogume road at about 9pm on Monday.
 
Names of the late herdsmen were given as Saidu Ibrahim and Malum Ali while the police recovered 15 expended and one live cartridge, eight expended 7.62mm ammunition and torchlight at the scene of the incident.
 
The CP noted that after consultation with the state chairman of Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Maikudi Ningi, the corpses were taken to Saint Luke’s mortuary, Kwale, and that it was during a search in the bush that the police found two dead and five injured cows.
 
 He commiserated with the bereaved just as he warned against further acts capable of causing breach of peace noting that the matter is been investigated with a view to bringing to book, the perpetrators.
