In a bid to enhance an effective Community Policing approach, to ensure adequate security of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command, CP Wilson Inalegwu on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University, Anyigba, Prof. Mohammed Sanni Abdulkadir.
Inalegwu disclosed that the purpose of his visit among others, was to bring to fore, some crime concerns within the University Community.
The CP urged the VC to look at other critical area of security concern such as Herders/Farmers clashes as it will have negative effect on the Academic activities.
He also stated the command’s readiness to partners with the School in crime fighting adding that the Police will continue to support the institution whenever necessary.
CP Inalegwu further urged the University management to always avail the Command with credible information on the activities of criminal elements such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and others within the University community.
In his reaction the VC commended the CP for the visit pointing out that since the 17 years of existence of the institution, no Commissioner of Police has ever visited the School.
He noted that the visit gave them a sense of belonging, while assured CP that, the visit will go a long way in enhancing effective collaboration between the Police and the University authority in area of information sharing.
CP finally called on the University management to always avail the Command with credible information on the activities of criminal elements such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and others within the University community.
Meanwhile, a group, Unified Nigerian Youth Forum on Wednesday confirmed an award on CP Inalegwu in Lokoja.
Vice President of the organization while presenting the award described CP Wilson Inalegwu as an excellent and special leader with moral compass, character, vision, integrity, courage, charisma, humility, prudence, and competence.
He said CP Inalegwu is a gallant, pragmatic Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, who puts security of lives and properties of citizenry on the top of his priority.
He added CP Wilson Inalegwu is a man with excellent track record of performance, very enterprising, articulate, a peacemaker, a crime fighter whose copious achievements made him hence the award of from the Youth Forum as s Symbol of National Unity”
Responding, CP Wilson Inalegwu appreciated the organization for finding him worthy for the award noting that he would dedicate the award to the entire personnel of the Command that through their efforts he made some achievements.
He further stated that Youths are the vanguards for development, while urged them to always preach peace and unity of Nigeria while shunning acts of criminality like kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism.
