In continuation of its determination to clampdown of criminal elements and miscreants in the state, operatives of the Delta State Police Command have cracked several kidnapping and armed robbery cases with the rescue of a kidnapped victim and recovery of her Infinity car.
Also, the police arrested 2 kidnapping suspects who forced their victim to transfer the sum of N1.5million to their account while 4 persons who specialize in vandalizing electricity transformers were nabbed after cutting the armoured cables of a transformer in Asaba,
Giving details of the arrests in a statement, Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zanna said, “On Thursday 2nd October 2017, at about 3pm, a radio message was received from control room, Asaba about the kidnap of a Lady at Issele-Uku in black Infinity Car reg no. Lagos NY 230 KJA.
“The information was immediately circulated to Dragon Police teams. Consequently, Patrol team 03 led by Inspector Semiu Majek, while on patrol along Igbodo-Agbor road, noticed the vehicle and chased after them.
“The hoodlums noticed the chase and abandoned the vehicle at Ekwuoma axis and entered the bush with the victim. The vehicle was recovered promptly while more dragon patrol teams were mobilized for search.
“At about 3.30pm, the kidnapped victim, one Nwaobi Judith, aged 44years of Ogbe Owelle quarters, Issele-Uku was released unhurt, along Lagos-Asaba road due to pressure by the Dragom Patrol teams searching for them.
“The rescued victim and recovered vehicle were handed over to Umunede division for further investigation.
Regarding the forced transfer on N1.5million, he said, “On Wednesday 1st of October 2017, One Ugboka Martins aged 20years of NUT Road reported at Abraka division that around 9am of same day, unknown gun men forcefully took him away from his house at the above address to a bush along River road.

“Detectives swung into action and one Erovie Faith aged 24 years and Israel Okhihie aged 26years, both of Urhoka were arrested. A Camry car with reg. no. GGE 574 GE was recovered.
In another development, “On Thursday 2nd October 2017, at about 4.30am, the Okpanam Police division got information that 4 armed men invaded a house in Amachai and robbed one Amamije O. of Amachai of his Motor Cycle.
“One Chukwuma Okeke aged 27 years and Chike Obike aged 18years were arrested. One locally made pistol, one live cartridge and a bag containing implements of house breaking were recovered.
“Efforts are on to recover the motorcycle and arrest fleeing suspects.
In the foiled case of vandalism, the police said, “At about 12pm, on Thursday 2nd October 2017, one Emmanuel Ejechi, the Security Contractor for Platform Petroleum LTD, reported that he was informed by Austin Adoh, the Chief Security Officer of the same company that smoke was observed at their pipeline linked to Agip Okpai and close to Ase Creek in Ndokwa West end of Osemele River.
“As a result, a team of their safety security personnel responded and found a cutting saw and tissue papers, suggestive of sabotage.
“Meanwhile, the fire has been successfully localized to prevent it spreading to other areas while effort is on to access the swamp in order to put it out completely.
Regarding arrest of vandals, the Police said, “At about 12pm, on Thursday 2nd October 2017, the police in Asaba arrested BEDC transformer vandals.
“Upon information received, one Jonah Abel aged 40years and Ikira Nuru aged 31years and Haladu Yusuf aged 27years as well as Jabiu Mohammed aged 28years, Michael Daduang aged 35 years, were arrested for vandalizing BEDC transformer behind SIO Company, Oduke area
“Pieces of the cut armoured cables were recovered from the suspects and investigation is ongoing.”
