Three dare-devil Armed Robbery suspects on Tuesday met their waterloo in Delta state when during a stop and search operation by the Police, they were intercepted and opened fire on the Police.
The Police responded and in the ensuing exchange of fire, three of the robbers were killed while one escaped with bullet wounds.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zanna who made the disclosure in a statement entitled ‘Death of Armed Robbers’ explained that the shootout occurred at expressway leading to Delta Steel Company.

He said, “On Tuesday 24th October 2017, at about 9.40pm, a Police Patrol Team attached to Ebrumede division led by ASP Mairiga were on stop and search duty along DSC expressway before Effurun roundabout.
“They accosted a Tricycle with registration no. GUE 822 QA, carrying four (4) men.
“On sighting the Police vehicle, the occupants opened fire on the police and there was exchange of fire.
“During shootout, the Police overpowered them and gunned down three of them while one escaped with bullet wounds.
“Two locally made pistols with two live cartridges and one expended cartridge was recovered from the hoodlums.
While noting that efforts are in progress to arrest the wounded robber, the police said the corpses of the dead robbers have been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue in Ekpan for autopsy.
