Cross Rivers State Govt, Police, OPDS receive, Repented Militants, Surrendered Arms & Ammunition

The Governor of Cross Rivers State, Professor Ayada Ben and the Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inua who both represented on Saturday 22nd December, 2018, recieved scores of repented militants who surrendered hundreds of armed ammunition in fulfilment of an MOU signed by the state government.

According to the Police in a statement, the amnesty event which took place in Boki involved Boki militants surrendering the weapons to Professor Ivara Edu, Deputy Hovernor and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ikom as well as representative of Operation Delta Safe, Major Yakubu.

At the event to recieved the arms were 6 senior Police officers, 34 Inspectors and rank and file. They recieved the weapons from militants from Oku community led by one Thomas Obi, aka ‘General Iron and 200 others who surrendered their arms as they embraced the amnesty programme

Consequently, the following arms and ammunition were surrendered (1) 1 AK 47 rifle, 1 Nato rifle, 14 locally made
made revolver single barrel guns, 2 locally made revolver single barrel 9mm, 37 locally made pistols, 13 axes, 1 military helmet, 66 machetes, 1 constructed machete.

Similarly the following caliber of ammunition were surrendered, (6) 7.62 special, (8) 7.62 nato,(41) 5.58mmand (1) cartridge and (1) hand grenade.

Cross Rivers State government had before now entered through the Deputy Governor had before now through the Deputy Governor entered into MOU with the militants aimef at bringing an end to militancy, amnesty and rehabilitating thr repented militants to return to normal life
