The Ambassador of Czech Republic to Nigeria, Mr Marek Scolil on Thursday pledged that his country is willing to cooperate with the Nigerian Government and the Nigerian Army in the procurement of desired weaponry for the successful implementation of the war against terrorism and other emerging security threats.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai at Army headquarters, Mr Skolil called for more improved relationship between Nigeria and his country noting that the myriad of security challenges confronting the country and its negative impact was a source of concern to his country.
He said, “I am here because our two countries and armies have developed very good relations dating back to the ,1960s. I want to say that I have great admiration for the way the Nigerian Army has performed in the face of the enormous size of the country and different threats and how it is tackling them.

“To show our support, we are interested in needed procurements, necessary training and any other security assistance. Because for us, Nigeria is a major partner. We have equipment and services to offer the Nigeria Army for good security relationship.
Furthermore, he said, “It is clear, considering the size, diversity, that the Army needs support. We are ready to provide the support”.
Responding, the COAS said, “We have enjoyed very good relationships in terms of procurement and other interventions from the Czech Republic.
Explaining that under present adminstration, the policy on procurements had been on a government to government basis, Lt. General Buratai expressed happiness that, ” Any time we require procurements, Czech companies have responded professionally.”
He however called on the Czech Republic to participate actively in planned federal government armed forces military industrial complex saying, “We hope for your partnership in our defence industries in the production of arms and ammunition needs for our military”.
