Death of NSCDC Officer who committed traffic violation caused by complication of High Blood Pressure; 2 Traffic Warden Officers arrested – Police.

Against the backdrop of the death on Wednesday, of an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Assistant Superintendent Ogar Jumbo over argument that ensued from a traffic violation incident at Nyanya, Abuja, the FCT Police Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma has ordered the arrest of two Police Traffic Wardens on duty.
This just as CP Ciroma debunked insinuations that the NSCDC official was shot by police personnel at the Nyanya checkpoint noting that rather the officer was diagnosed to have died of high blood pressure complications.
The CP said there was no truth whatsoever in the rumour making the rounds that the officer died of gunshot wound as none of the traffic warden officers carried arms.
Speaking in the same vein, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Frank Mba said the incident happened at about 9 am.
He said the NSCDC official was driving with his wife when he violated traffic regulations and was stopped by two traffic warden officers who subsequently contravened them.
“Let me emphasize that these traffic warden officers did not bear arms as is well known“.
Mba added that “On contravention, the NSCDC officer himself, who was putting on a civil shirt on top of his NSCDC trouser, drove himself with the traffic warden officers to the Nyanya Police Station. It was while he was being asked questions and he was responding that he suddenly collapsed”.
“On getting to the hospital, he was confirmed dead. The corpse has been deposited at the Maitama General Hospital.
“An autopsy will be conducted on the corpse in the presence of his family particularly, his wife and doctors from the NSCDC to determine that cause of death and it will be made public”.
“Meanwhile, the two traffic warden officers have been arrested and will be investigated over the incident” Mba said.
He pointed out that the Police and NSCDC have very good working relationship which has blossomed over the years”
