Delta CP orders manhunt for 2 Policemen as Sergeant is arrested for robbery; Other Kidnappers, Robbery Suspects also nabbed.

Following their involvement in the robbery of a Tanker on its content of 33, 000 liters of petroleum products, at gunpoint and the subsequent dumping of the driver and motor boy in the bush, Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahm Zanna has ordered the detention of a police Sergeant while a manhunt has commenced for the arrest of two others.

According to the Police, “On 12th of July 2017 at about 11.55pm, operatives of the Special Anti-robbery squad SARS, arrested 3 robbery suspects namely Kingsley Ochei 37yrs of Ekuoma community in Ika North East, Delta State and F/No.413318 SGT Nwankem Ebonu 37yrs of NPF New Oweeri division, Imo State as well as Ndubuisi Okolie, 29yrs of Ekuoma community in Ika North East, Delta State.

“the suspects were arrested in connection with armed robbery incident that occurred on June 21st 2017 along Agbor/Benin expressway

“In the robbery incident, a tanker vehicle with reg. no. ASB960ZH conveying 33,000 liters of PMS product was robbed at gunpoint. The driver and conductor were tied and thrown into the bush.

“The suspects confessed to the crime and effort is ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang including two other policemen and recover their arms”

Also, the Police said it has arrested a notorious self-confessed kidnapper and murderer who partook in many herdsmen attacks and killing of farmers in Delta state.

It said, “On the Friday 14th of July 2017, at about 2.45pm, a notorious kidnapper on police watch-list, Musa Umaru 35yrs aka Timaya who lives behind Asaba Airport area, was arrested by the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Cult Volunteer group at ‘Niger Waterside’, Kwale Axis

“Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to complicity in most herdsmen/community killings around Kwale axis and his involvement in most kidnappings within the same axis”.

The police is carrying out further investigation to ascertain the other culprits of the gang.

Furthermore, the Police in the state on Friday arrested some suspected armed robbers terrorizing Warri and environs.

It said, “Today (Friday, 14th July 2017 at about 6 am, a Quick Response Patrol team II while on patrol along NPA road, Warri, intercepted 2 suspicious looking boys.

The boys namely Preye Ekus aged 21yrs of no. 18 Oubi road and Endurance Ebrajero aged 20yrs of Market road, were with a bag which attracted suspicion.

“Upon a search, items recovered are 1 HP laptop, 1 Infinix phone. In the process of interrogation, one Onoruesereye Ernest of Eboh road, Warri surfaced and identified the laptop to be his.

He stated further that the laptop was robbed at gun point from him. The case is still under investigation

In another development, the Police has arrested an armed robbery and murder suspect in Asaba

It said, “On Friday 14th July 2017, at about 1pm, one Chukweke Promise of Junior staff Quarters, Asaba reported at the station that on Wednesday 12th July, that at about 7 am, he and his friend, one Godstime Eloke went to Infant Jesus Phase 2 estate.

“While there, he left his friend in the car to see another friend. When he came back, he saw Godstime lying on the ground with a cut on his head.

On enquiry, the friend told him that some unknown persons attacked him and made away with his iphone. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and discharged.

After few days, the condition got worst and on the way to the hospital, he died.

“On the 14th of July 2017, one Eugene Egbure of Infant Jesus phase 2 who was detained over a case of house breaking and stealing was identified by the complainant as one of the suspects that robbed late Godstime.

The suspect was formerly arrested and he confessed to the crime.
