Delta Police Arrest 6 Kidnappers, Kill Armed Robber in Shootout, Recover Singe Barrel Gun, 11 Cartridges.

The Police in Delta State have arrested six kidnapping suspects in separate operations with four of the kidnappers nabbed after collecting a ransom of N340, 000 from their victim while another set of kidnappers were caught for using social media to lure their victims into abduction.

Also, the Police in Delta State at the weekend successfully intercepted a two man armed robbery gang who were robbing a victim at Airport road in Warri at gunpoint.

Making the disclosures in a statement, Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Zanna said, “On Thursday 18th November 2017, at about 3.34pm, sequel to the manhunt of some suspects that kidnapped one Mrs. Maltina Waka at Udu road, Warri on Monday 13th November 2017, detectives attached to Eagle Net Squad, stormed Okwagbe Community in Ughelli South LGA.

There, the suspect (Fortune Agboola, 20 yr old of Waterside Area in Okwagbe Area of Ughelli) who collected the sum of N340, 000 as ransom from the victim’s husband for the release of the said victim was arrested.

“Information received from the suspect indicted Omones of Omasumo village, Jemaifue and Aboy, all of Ogbegolor Community in Ughelli South LGA as the custodian of the said victim”.

 The Police say efforts are being intensified for the rescue and arrest of the suspects at large.

On arrest of the second batch of kidnappers, the police said, “At about 8.30pm, of Thursday, two male suspects namely Adesida Adeyemi Samuel aka Tony, 21 years of Umuadafe Quarters, Ibusa and Happy Eze, 19 yrs of same address, alongside a victim, one Mr. Kingsley Njoku, 8 yrs of Ezalo-Owerri village in Ehimi-Mbano LGA of Imo State were handed over to SAKCCS.

The suspects’, who have derived a new means of kidnap by luring their unsuspecting victim’s via social network, were arrested at Anioma Garden Area, Ibusa. The victim was rescued at about 7.30pm of same day.

Regarding the shootout in Warri, the police said, “The Quick Response Squad while on visibility patrol along Airport Road, sighted a Tricycle with reg. no. 228 WX with two made occupants, attacking one Miss. Awele Kanayo, 18 yrs old of Koloba Street, Jakpa road, Warri.

“In an attempt to stop and rescue the victim, the armed robbers brandished their firearm and they were overpowered by the police and one was gunned down and died on the way to hospital.

His colleague escaped with bullet wounds. The corpse of the dead robber has been deposited at General Hospital Warri for autopsy.
