Delta Police Arrest Soldier (Arms Dealer) with 300 AK 47 ammunition, Recover Stolen Transformer; Kill Armed Robbery Suspect in Shootout.

The Delta State Police Command in separate operations against dare-devil criminals, have arrested a Nigerian Army Soldier who is an arms dealer and suppliers of arms and ammunition to criminal gangs terrorizing Delta and Edo states.

Among exhibits recovered from the soldier, a Lance Corporal, are 300 rounds of live AK 47 ammunition.

Also the police in the state successfully recovered a stolen transformer from the criminals who stole the transformer from Bomadi after a hot chase with the criminals jumping into a swamp and escaping when police intercepted their truck which was also discovered to be stolen

In another operation, armed robbers opened fire on a police team that was chasing them to thwart their criminal activities. In the ensuing shootout, one of the armed robbers was killed.

A statement from the office of Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Zanna said, “Following reports that a transformer was stolen on Tuesday 12th September 2017, the police swung into action.

“At about 3.15 am, while the Dragon Patrol team was patrol at Ughelli/Patani road, they received information from control room, Asaba that a transformer stolen from Kpatchama village in Bomadi LGA was on transit.

“The patrol team immediately swung into action and embarked on intensive stop and search. Consequently, one self-loader DAF Truck, blue in colour with reg. No Delta KPE 113 XA was intercepted with the stolen transformer.

“The two occupants of the truck jumped into the bush covered with flood and escaped and abandoned the truck and exhibit which were recovered and handed over to ‘A’ division, Ughelli.

 On the arrest of the arms dealer, the police said, “At about 12noon on Tuesday, September 2017, operatives of SAKCCS acting on intelligence traced and arrested one Tiben Inusa 29yrs of Yamusa Village Kurmi LGA of Taraba state at Aduwawa area of Benin, Edo state and recovered from him, 300 rounds of Live AK 47 ammunitions.

“Upon investigation the suspect identified himself as a serving member of the Nigerian Army, L/Cpl with No- 09NA/64/5865-7 attached to 1070 DIV Workshop, Maiduguri in Borno state.

“Pre-investigation revealed that the suspect is among allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to various kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates within the state and its environs.

Regarding the death of the armed robbery suspect in a shootout and recovery of arms and ammunition, the police said, “On Tuesday 12th September 2017, at about 12 am, SARS Operatives on duty at Cable Point at Asaba, responded to a distress call that 3 armed men had robbed a Toyota Sienna with Reg. No. FGG 647 TH.

“The operatives gave the hoodlums a hot chase but around Ibusa Bosiac Area, the hoodlums sighted the operatives, disembarked from the vehicle and opened fire on the police and ran into the bush.

“During exchange of fire, one of the hoodlums, identified as Israel Anioke aged 40yrs of Infant Jesus Asaba, was fatally wounded.

“An English double barrel gun, a cut to size double barrel gun and 3 live cartridges were recovered. The suspect eventually gave up the ghost in hospital
