The Police in Delta state have gunned down two armed robbers in Ogwashiuku after a hot exchange of fire with the robbers who had killed a victim at a house they went to rob last week in the town.
It was gathered that the robbers, who are notorious and had been on the wanted list of the Police were behind several robbery incidents in Ogwashiukwu and environs in the past several months.
Confirming the development in a statement entitled ‘Death of Armed Robbers & Case of Murder/Armed robbery’, Delta state Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Muhammad Zanna said, “On Saturday 17th June 2017, at about 4.45pm, one Michael Nweke of Isah Road, Ogwashiukwu, reported that two armed men attacked his residence.
“The hoodlums after having access into his house were recognized by his wife who shouted and mentioned the name of Uche whom she identified”.

“They opened fire on him and his wife, Franca Nweke aged 50 years who sustained injury on her head and died on the spot”.
“The complainant was injured on his leg. Police visited scene of crime and took the corpse of the wife to Trinity Hospital Mortuary, Ubuluku for autopsy.
Continuing the Police said, “After intensive search, at about 3pm on Sunday 18th June, the hoodlums – Uche and his cohort were tracked down to their hideout by the Police and Vigilante of Ogwashiukwu.
“A shootout ensued as the robbers opened fire on the police. After the exchange of fire, the 2 of them were shot dead. Two cut to size guns and expended cartridges recovered.
The Delta state Police said the notorious Uche has been known for heinous criminality in the community and has been at large adding that investigation is in progress to see if there are accomplices.
