Delta Police Nab Officer Over Misconduct and Shooting of Student over N1, 000 Scuffle.

The Police in Delta State has stated that operatives of Police Command have arrested the fleeing Police personnel, Force/No. 424188 Sgt. Sampson Abuo who shot a Delta student at a checkpoint over one thousand naira scuffle with a motorist.

Commissioner of Police Zanna Ibrahim who disclosed this in Asaba via a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Aniamaka Andrew, reassured victims and their families and the general public that the Command, under his watch, has not done anything and will never do anything to scuttle the course of justice and fair play in this and in any other case.

Emphasizing the Command’s readiness at all times to ensure fairness and justice in all its dealings with members of the public, CP Zanna noted that the
reaffirmation became necessary against the backdrop of insinuations and concerns raised by one Afeez Hanafi in one of the National Dailies, calling on the police authorities not to sweep “under the carpet” a case of attempted murder under investigation.

The CP reiterated the steps taken by the Police following the unfortunate alleged shooting incident, to include the arrest of four members of the team for not preventing the escape of the culprit.

He added that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, and the ASP who is the team leader were queried for lacking in supervision while the sum of one hundred thousand naira was made available to enable immediate treatment of the victim and thus save life.

He added that investigation commenced immediately and photographs were taken by the police and other documentary evidence was attached to the case diary, needless to state that Photographic evidence is admissible in evidence.

He equally, said that the vehicle was released on bond to the driver who had insisted it be released to him for ‘local running’.
