Delta Police Rescue Mother, 16 months old Son from Kidnappers, Arrest Culprits; Recover Stolen Vehicles from Robbers, Arrest Suspects.

In its renewed drive to stamp out armed robbery and kidnapping in the state, the Delta State Police Command have successfully rescued a mother and her 16 months old baby from kidnappers while arresting the culprits.

Also several vehicles snatched from their owners at different parts of the state at gun point, were recovered when police patrol teams cornered the armed robbery suspects who abandoned the vehicles and fled into the bush.

Making these disclosures in a statement, Delta Police Command in a statement titled “Arrest of Kidnappers, Rescue of victims and recovery of Snatched Car” said, “On Friday 11th of August 2017, at about 8.30am, based on information from Hon. Monday, a Special Adviser on Security to the Governor of Delta State, that a woman and her 16 months old son were kidnapped, the police swung into action.

“With information that the kidnappers were heading to Ughelli from Warri, through the express road, two teams of patrol, assisted by vigilante men, blocked the express road, searching for kidnappers.

“On sighting the teams, the kidnappers parked the Hyundai car, with Reg No. APP 896 DF, black in colour and escaped into the bush.

“They were given a hot chase and one Felix Johnson 28 yrs old of Ogbowa Street, Ughelli and Goodluck Sunday, 20 yrs old of Afisere Ughelli was arrested.

“The victims, one Mrs Messiah Ese and her 16months old son, kidnapped from Danibo Junction un Udu LGA, were rescued unhurt.

The Police however said concerted efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.  

Similarly, on Friday 11th August 2017, at about 9am, a team of Safer Highway Patrol, stationed at Issele-Azagba, while on patrol along Otulu road, recovered a Volkswagen Vento car with Reg No. DELTA  GWK .05 PP, green in clour, which was stolen from one Christian Okwezolu by 5 armed men at summit junction.

The car was snatched on Thursday 10th August 2018 at about 2am early hours of that day. The hoodlums on sighting the patrol team jumped into bush and escaped. The police team is still combing the bush and environs for possible arrests of the hoodlums.

In the same vein, Police in Delta arrested another set of armed robbery suspects at Oleh and recovered stolen vehicles from the suspects

It said, “On Saturday 12th August, 2017, at about 4.45pm, a Toyota Camry Car with rig no. DZ 350 AA was snatched from one Derry Asugo at gun point at Otor Iyede

 “Patrol teams were mobilized and on sighting the police, they abandoned the car and fled into the bush while the vehicle was recovered to the station.

“Following a sustained manhunt of the hoodlums, one Stephen Oborakporo and Onos Omugne were arrested with a cut to size locally made gun.

“Another car, a KIA CERRATO Car, with reg. no BV 359 EPE, which they snatched from a woman at Agbarho on Saturday 12th August 2017 and other valuables were equally recovered.

The Police further said efforts are on to arrest the remaining suspects and recover their arms.
