Delta Police Smash Armed Robbery/Arms Fabrication Syndicate in Uzere, Isoko South LGA; Recover Cache of Arms and Ammunition, Arrest Suspected Murderers.

The Police in Delta State have smashed a notorious armed robbery gang who also indulge in the fabrication of arms in Uzere in Isoko South LGA of Delta State.

The notorious gang which had been on the wanted list of the Delta Police Command is said to have been the brain behind several armed attacks, robberies and killings of people in Isoko and environs.

A statement from the office of the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Zanna, giving details of the breakthrough and arrest of the suspects said, “On Thursday 19th October 2017, at about 12.30pm, based on a tip-off, Eagle Net Police Operatives combed Uzere, Aviara and Enwhe communities respectively where two suspects, Edejero Ureye (32yrs) and Solomon Ureye (58yrs) both of Enwhe village in Isoko LGA were arrested.

“The arrest of the suspects was sequel to the earlier arrest of a motorcycle suspect by name Afferay Editor (33yrs) of Uzere community in Isoko South LGA, over alleged involvement in series of armed robbery attacks, kidnapping and murder in Isokoland and environs.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects are two fabricated AK 47 rifles, automatic revolvers, two single barrel rifles and two locally made pistols and 82 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition.

Other exhibits recovered are drilling machines, equipment and devices used for manufacturing locally made guns, one parcel containing Cannabis Sativa suspected to be Indian hemp and four mobile phones.

The Police said the suspects and exhibits have been moved to the State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation.
