Delta State Police Foil Terrorist Plot To Attack State, Arrest Suspect with 6 Explosives, 6 Detonators and Detonating Cords; Armed Robbers, Confessed Kidnapper; Recover arms, robbed items.

The Police in Delta State, on Sunday 24th December 2017 foiled an attempt by a suspected terrorist sympathizer to smuggle 6 explosive materials and detonators into the state in a Golf Salon car with a sinister motive of detonating the explosive.

This is also as operatives of the State Police Command arrested several armed robbery suspects, a wanted and confessed kidnapper and recovered several arms was well as telephones and laptops from the robbers.

Explaining the foiled explosive attack by the suspected terrorist in a statement seen by SecurityKingNews, the Police Command said, “On Sunday 24th December, at about 4.20pm, Safer Highways Patrol team 016 stationed at Anwai/Illah road by Ibori Gulf Club were conducting a stop and search on the directive of the Commissioner of Police.

“While on the stop and search, the team intercepted a Commercial Gulf Volkswagen car with reg. no. PTN 570 XA.

“Haven conducted a search on the passengers of the car, one Sunday Nzelue of Omoka Camp Illah, aged 32 years was arrested with six (6) pieces of 25mm Dynamite, six (6) pieces of detonators and detonating cords.

“The suspect and the recovered exhibits has however been handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation.

Regarding the arrested armed robbers, the Police said, “On Sunday 24th December 2017, at about 9.30am, a 3-man gang attempted to rob customers in front GT Bank, Off Airport Road, Warri.

“ThePatrol team attached to Ogbotokoko division moved to the scene and there was exchange of gunfire.

“During the crossfire that ensued, one of the armed robber named Tare Robinson was arrested but badly injured in the duel and was arrested.

“One locally made single barrel gun was recovered from him and on thorough search in their vehicle, three live cartridges and one expended cartridge was recovered

In a similar vein, on Sunday 24th December 2017, at about 5.30am, One Omage Jonathan, 22 years old of No 1 Anakpofure Str, Ughelli reported at the station that at about 3.30am on Sunday, four (4) armed men attacked their house with sledge hammer and cutlasses.

“They demanded for handsets and money and after robbing them, the victims alerted the police patrol team attached to Ughelli division.

“As the robbers were escaping, one Jeremiah Monday 20 yrs old of Isoko road, Ughelli was arrested. Two handsets and laptop belonging to the complainant and sledge hammer used in the robbery were recovered from the arrested armed robber.

“He confessed to the crime and though he sustained injury in the process of escaping, he has been treated and is helping the police in the effort to arrest his gang members.

On the arrest of the confessed kidnapper, the police said, “Sequel to the follow up in a case of attempted kidnap of one Mr. Okechukwu Okorie of 18 Akunne Amochi layout, Achalla Ibusa, Asaba, under investigation, the police arrested the kidnapper.

It said, “On Saturday 23rd December 2017, at about 8.30pm, one of the fleeing suspects, named Onyeka Okolie 22yrs of No. 1 Achalla Ibusa, Asaba was tracked and trailed and arrested at Anwai road, Asaba by SAKCCS operatives led by Inspector Alim Bakari.

The suspect who confessed to the act is currently assisting the operatives with investigation towards arresting other gang members.
