The 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA) Enugu State on Friday, emerged champions of the 1st COAS Combat Platoon Cross Country Championship 2022.
The competition which came to conclusion at Elele Military Cantonment Rivers State with a 15km Dash Back Run saw 82 Division Enugu at the 1st position with a total of 505 points.
2 Division NA Ibadan took 2nd position with a total of 451 points whil 6 Division NA Port Harcourt emerged 3rd position with a total of 350 points.
Giving the closing remarks, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya who was represented by the Corps Commander Nigerian Army Signals, Maj Gen Abiodun Owolabi commended participants for their display of sportsmanship throughout the Championship.

He urged troops to always note and put into practice the objectives of the Championship which include improvement in combat proficiency, leadership skills, organizational ability, endurance and fitness, team work and espirit de corps amongst others in their daily affairs.
He also commended the effort of 6 Division NA in organizing and coordinating the Championship and implored them to continually support the actualization of the COAS vision.
In his Vote of thanks, the 6 Division Training Officer and Chairman Local Organising Committee for the Championship, Brig Gen Ernest Orakwe expressed his gratitude to the SGoH Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for giving 6 Division the opportunity to host and organize the competition, and assured him of the Division’s readiness to carry out any assigned task.
Present at the ceremony were representatives from Training and Doctrine Command, representatives from Army HQ, the Director Physical Training, Division Training Officers, Heads of sister security agencies and paramilitary in Rivers State and other senior officers.
