The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa has said that educatiin is the most powerful weapon that could be used to change the world for good.
This is just as she advised youths to reflect on the valuable lessons they have learned within the walls of school and remember that education extends beyond text books.
The DEPOWA President gave this advise on Friday 8th August 2023 at the Speech and Prize Giving Day of the DEPOWA Daycare Nursery, Primary and Secondary School, Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja.
While extendinh her “deepest joy for the achievements of students which was exhibited throughout their educational journey” Mrs Musa tasked them on character, adding that the development of their character will determine their success in life.
She said, “You have conquered challenges, embraced growth and emerged as shining examples of what can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.
“To my graduating students, you should know that character stands for; Compassion, Honesty, Accounting, Adoptability, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Courage, Empathy, and Respect”.
She commended the exceptional staff of DEPOWA Schools who have worked tirelessly over the years to provide the pupils and students with a nurturing, inspiring and intellectual stimulating environment for learning.
“They have been their guides and mentors who have invested time and expertise in helping them grow both academically and personally.
“We hereby recognize their unwavering commitment and dedication to the success of these pupils and students.
“To our esteemed parents, we thank you for trusting us to carry on this journey over the years with your beloved children. Your guidance and sacrifices have indeed played a vital role in shaping their character and providing the foundation for their success.
She added, “I make bold to say that as the 15th President of DEPOWA, I remain resolute to ensuring the provision of quality education in the DEPOWA Daycare Nursery, Primary and Secondary School because education is the most powerful weapon which could be used to change the world.”
Reiterating heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, Mrs Musa prayed that their future will be filled with endless possibilities and happiness.
“I have no doubt that you will create a future that is bright, impactful and inspiring”, she said.
The colourful event was marked with presentation of spoken words, dances and Prizes to best graduating students, and presentation of souvenirs to graduating students.
