Enugu Police nabs, parade 6 suspected armed robbers

The Enugu State Police Command, on Friday, paraded seven suspects for alleged armed robbery at various locations in the State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Balarabe Sulaiman, while briefing newsmen at the Police Headquarters, Enugu, said the suspects were arrested between the month of April and May 1st 2019 for various criminal activities ranging from armed robbery to cultism.

Suleiman said that one AK47 rifle and 17 live ammunition, one single barrel revolver locally made pistol, two double barrel short gun and two live cartridges, one locally made six rounds revolver pistol were recovered from the suspects.

Other items recovered include: one Toyota Camry with reg. No. PC 933 AAA, among other cars which he said where at various locations where the suspects were arrested and arrangements to bring them to the command’s headquarters have been concluded.

He added that once investigations were concluded, the suspects would be charged to court to get appropriate punishment for their nefarious activities.

According to the CP, “suspects identified as, Chibuoke Charles (23); Okwudili Ilochi (24); Chigozie Michael (23) and Chibueze Chinecherem (26), all members of Ayee confraternity were arrested on Friday April 26, 2019 at about 6 am by his men while they were returning from a wake keep at Agbogazie Nike.

“On April 17, at 09:00 hrs the police through intelligence information arrested one Eze Emmanuel (25), a final year Nursing student for cultism and upon search, a gun and two live cartridges were recovered from him”

The police Commissioner noted that on April 4, his men on intelligent information arrested one Okechukwu Egbuaba (26) who according to him had attacked a Police Officer with his three man- gang while the police officer was returning from election duty in Ebonyi State on 10th of March.

He said the suspect is an unrepentant ex-convite.

Sulaiman, however, urged members of the public especially journalists to synergize with the command to rid the state of criminals and trouble makers.

“Enugu State is known for peace and security, I and my team have resolved to continue to keep it so.

“Criminals and trouble makers should steer clear, as we will not create a space for them to operate here,” he said
