Enugu Police Operatives did not tear gas any INEC AD HOC Staff at INEC HQ, Enugu on Tuesday.

The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police force wish to inform members of the public that its attention has been drawn to some insinuations from social media platforms about alleged teargas and maltreatment of some INEC ADHOC Staff on Tuesday at INEC Headquarters Enugu by the commands security operatives.

The command further wish to state the following facts for avoidance of misleading members of the public who may have been informed by the malicious report.

The command received a report that unknown people were at INEC Headquarters Gate Enugu on 9/4/19 at about 2.14pm to cause mayhem and consequently mobilized its operatives to the scene,

That on arrival to the scene,security operatives through their instant enquiry conducted discovered that the unidentified persons at the gate are said be Inec Adhoc staff.

That the security operatives after listening to them, helped to draw the attention of the INEC REC of the state who advised them to come up with a comprehensive list of all that participated in the election duty.

That following the INEC REC intervention and advised,they left with the agreement and understanding to come up with the comprehensive list of all participants.

The command further wish to add that there was no need for teargas to be used on any person or persons as condition met on arrival by security operatives did not provide for such.

Members of the public are advised to be guided by this.
