The Force headquarters have assured Nigerians and the general public that detained notorious high-profile kidnapping kingpin, Chukwudi Onuamadike aka Evans, is in custody and did not vanish to anywhere as currently trending in the social media and other outlets.
A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said, “Evans is intact in Police Custody. Investigation into all the crimes he has committed which include several kidnappings; armed robbery and murder are ongoing”.
The statement titled ‘Re – Evan Vanishes, Billionaire Kidnapper’s Whereabouts Unknown’, said “The Police have made significant progress in the investigations of these crimes”.
“Members of the public are hereby implored to disregard every misleading report published in both social and print media that he has been released and all criminal charges against him dropped as untrue and absolute falsehood”.
Evans is in Police custody and would be arraigned in court along with other members of his gang on completion of investigation.

Recall that the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Technical Intelligence Units (TIU) both led by Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACPs Abba Kyari and Kolo, both Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris Special Squads, tracked and arrested Evans after several years of high profile kidnapping exploits that extended to Ghana and South Africa.
Aside from the international connecting rings which saw the kidnapping Czar demanding and collecting ransoms in dollars, Evans was confirmed to have coordinated several kidnap operations in the South East, South West and Edo State, was nabbed at Magodo Area of Lagos.
When arrested, Evans was wearing a wrist-watch valued at $117, 000 USD and discover to be using over 100 telephone AIM cards of various network providers.
In an interview during his arrest, ACP Abba Kyari who revealed that Evans almost escaped on the day of his arrest, stated, “Evans is so intelligent, very careful and knows all the security secrets. He doesn’t interact with people and he is the only one that goes to collect the ransom thereby keeping clues elusive”.
