FCT Police arrest 22 ‘One Chance’ Robbers, impounds 7 Operational Vehicles; nab dismissed Bank Staff, who stole N14m from ATM.

The Special Anti-One Chance Squad of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has in the last few weeks, arrested a total of 22 suspects, and impounded 7 operational vehicles of one chance robbers.
Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge operations at the command, ACP Valentine Olumese made the disclosure on Wednesday at a briefing in Abuja.
He said the suspects have been charged to court and convicted to various jail terms adding that exhibits recovered from them included knives, victim’s ATM cards, etc.
Other successes recorded in smashing criminal gangs include the arrest of several armed robbery and murder suspects as well as recovery of stolem cash, arms and other dangerous items.
The breakdown, “On 1st November, 2018, Police Operatives attached to Garki Division arrested one Emmanuel Emeka Onuma 34 years old who broke into the ATM lobby of a bank located in Garki on 19th October, 2018 at about 12 midnight and stole the sum of fourteen million naira (N14, 000. 000, 00).
The suspect, who was an employee of the bank before he was sacked in August this year for fraudulent activities, confessed that he acted alone.
According to him, some of the money he stole from the bank was converted to foreign currency (thirty-three thousand US dollars ($33,000)) at Abuja and Kaduna for ease of movement.
Upon his arrest, the following amount of money were recovered from him as exhibit: cash sum of Twenty-eight thousand Us dollars ($28,000), One million six hundred and fifty thousand one hundred and twenty naira (N1,650,120) and nine pieces of Ghana ceddis.
Other exhibits recovered from him include one new SIM card and flight tickets.
Also, following a discreet investigation, Police detectives from the Command arrested two additional members of a notorious armed robbery gang who robbed and killed one Monday Umoh in July this year.
The two suspects, Attah Godwin (aka Jogodo) 33 years, Izunna Nwafor 27 years, who have been at large, were arrested by police detectives at their hideouts in Gwagwa and Deidei axis.
This breakthrough was sequel to confession made by one Nwore Emmanuel 27 years a member of the syndicate who linked the two suspects to the crime.
ACP Olumese recalled that the deceased was picked by the suspects from Kagini as a passenger on 28th July, 2018. However, midway into the journey, in an attempt to safeguard his valuables from being robbed by the suspects he engaged them in a struggled that led to him being shot on the chest by the suspects, who later dispossessed him of some cash and his winco phone.
The deceased was abandoned by the suspects in the pool of his blood at Federal Housing Flyover Kubwa. Upon receipt of information about the incident, the Command commenced an investigation that first led to the arrest of Nwore Emmanuel in September, 2018 and now Attah Godwin (aka Jogodo) and Izunna Nwafor who have all admitted to have committed the heinous act.
Police investigation has also led to the recovery of the victim’s winco phone which was robbed by the suspects.
One green colour Toyota carina E car with reg. no. FX 138 BWR, used by the suspects as their operational car was also recovered as exhibit.
The suspects usually pose as cab operators to lure their unsuspecting victims.
Furthermore, on 3rd November, 2018 at 10pm Police Operatives on stop and search duty at Area 1 arrested one Kolawole Kayode 31 years old and Nurudeen David 30 years old all of no fixed address in possession of one locally made pistol, one dagger and three live cartridges.

The suspect who disguised as passengers in a tricycle was arrested by the police operatives who acted on reasonable suspicion. Both the suspects are residents of Ilorin, Kwara State who came to Abuja for a major armed robbery operation.

On 2nd October, 2018 at 1am, following a distress call Police Operatives from Kubwa Division arrested one Victor Isaac 32 years old at a house in Byazine where he had gone to rob occupants of the apartment with his cohort now at large.
One locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.
On 3rd November, 2018 at about 5am following a complaint, Police operative from Utako Division arrested one Destiny Stanley (female) 25yrs for the theft of two cell phones (one Samsung J5 and one Nokia).
During the execution of search warrant at her apartment located at Dape, one locally made pistol and one revolver live ammunition were recovered from a bag found in the apartment.
On 22 October, 2018 following a distress call, Police Operatives arrested one Ibrahim Abubakar 19 years old in a house at Utako where he had gone to rob.
Two cutlasses and one flash light where recovered from him.
On 5th November, 2018 at about 5am, based on information, Police operatives from Mpape Division arrested one Iliyasu Omika 22yrs of Tungan Maje at a Brotel in Mpape.
The suspect who disguised as a lady to lure men at nightclubs for amorous relationships was arrested after his supposed client raised alarm upon discovery that he was actually a man and not a woman as he claimed.
All suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
