FCT Police Arrest 23 Suspected criminals; assures Residents of adequate deployment of security for yuletide.

The FCT Police Command have arrested 23 suspects in connection with criminal acts like armed robbery, impersonation, car snatching, cultism and possession of firearms in continuation of efforts to rid Abuja of criminal elements.
FCT CP, Bala Ciroma who stated this at a briefing on Wednesday, also disclosed that the armed robbery syndicate that attacked Total Filling Station at the Federal Housing Estate in Lugbe, killing a Policeman and two Petrol attendants 3 weeks ago, has been busted.
He declined to give out details because investigation is still going on as giving out details may jeopardize progress being made.
The CP said one of the armed robbers arrested by FSARS squad attached to the command, one Ahmadu Adamu, attacked his victim, one Margaret Nyitse in Pegi Community in Kuje Area Council and cut off her left wrist with a cutlass.
“The suspect who has been on the run since March, 2018, was arrested in Pegi on Friday 14th December, 2018 at about 8 pm. He has made useful statement on how the crime was committed. Effort is being intensified to recover the victim’s hand bag robbed by the suspect and the weapon used in committing the crime”, Ciroma said.
The CP said that on 10, December 2018, Police operatives from the command arrested one Olawale Michael Olatunji 58 years old, who has been parading himself as a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police.
“The suspect has hidden under the pretext to defraud unsuspecting members of the public by offering to help them secure contracts with the Police Air Wing. He was arrested at a bank at Kubwa where he had gone to make some financial transactions.
“In the course of investigations, fake Police Air Wing receipts, fake contract documents, eleven ATM cards, ten Cheque books and letter-headed papers of different companies were recovered from him as exhibits”.
Another set arrested are a gang of car snatchers who have been terrorizing residents of Nyanya and Mararaba axis.
The CP said “On December 8th 2018, acting on a tip-off, Police operatives arrested four members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate. They were arrested at their hideouts in New Karu area of Nasarawa State. The suspects are Francis Davide, Daniel Benjamin, Emmanuel Okiti and Shedrach Andrew. One locally made pistol and six live cartridges were recovered from the suspects”
On security arrangements for the Yuletide, CP Ciroma said, “I want to reassure FCT residents that the command has made adequate security deployment for the Christmas celebration.
“Some of the security measure put in place include strategic deployment of both uniform and plain clothe police operatives on foot and vehicular patrols, activation of stop and search and continuous raid of black spots.
“FCT residents are therefore enjoined to report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest Police emergency help lines-08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883”.
