FCT Police Command smash Kidnappers Informant Gang, One Chance Gangs; arrest several Armed Robbery suspects.

FCT Police Commissioner, CP Bala Ciroma on Thursday briefed the media on successes achieved by operatives of the command in the efforts to rid Abuja of criminal elements.

He noted that ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the Command has made adequate security arrangement to fortify all Eid praying grounds, churches, shopping malls, gardens, recreational parks, motor parks and other areas that will attract the large gathering of people.

Highlight of some notable achievements of the Command is presented below:-

SMASHING OF NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL SYNDICATE/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

Following an ongoing investigation into the fraudulent transfer of money from a robbery victim’s bank account, police operatives from the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested seven members of a notorious robbery gang that specialise in transferring money through bank accounts linked to their victims SIM cards.

The syndicate whose robbery operation is targeted at their victims’ SIM cards, especially SIMs linked to bank accounts, were arrested at their hideout in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Most bank accounts used as destination accounts where the proceeds of this crime is lodged are bank accounts created by the syndicate for unsuspecting persons picked from the streets.

When such accounts are opened, the leader of the syndicate takes custody of the ATM cards and use same to withdraw all money transferred into the account from victims’ whose account have been hacked.

The suspects arrested in connection with this crime are: Salisu Maaki ‘m’, Abraham Yusuf ‘m’, Mohammed Auwal ‘m’, Babangida Mohammed ‘m’, Abubakar Musa ‘m’, and Abubakar Ibrahim Sadiq.

The exhibits recovered from the suspects include: thirteen (13) phones, fifty-five (55) SIM cards and six (6) ATM cards. Suspects will be arraigned in court when investigation is concluded.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPING INFORMANTS

As part of effort by the Command to tackle cases of kidnapping in communities around Abaji and its environs, the FCT Police Command acting on credible intelligence has arrested five suspects who have been identified as secret informants to kidnappers terrorising the area.

The suspects who have made useful confession to their involvement in the crime which is for financial gains were arrested in Abaji. The arrested suspects are:

1. Yusuf Sani ‘m’

2. Mohammed Abdullahi ‘m’

3. Surajo Ali ‘m’

4. Bello Mohammed ‘m’

5. Aliyu Yusuf ‘m’

Meanwhile, the Command is making concerted effort to arrest their cohorts who are currently at large. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARMS

On 30 July, 2019 at about 2000hrs following a discreet investigation, Police operatives from Abaji Division have arrested one Iyajesu Azaki ‘m 40 years who runs a gun fabrication outlet in Kulo village of Abaji Area Council.

The arrest of the suspect was in furtherance to an ongoing investigation into the source of two guns recovered from one Suleiman Abubakar and Monday Ayuba who were arrested at Nuku village during a robbery operation.

Also arrested is one Nasiru Musa ‘m’ and his brother Abdulazeez ‘m’ who supply charms used by the suspects to carry-out their robbery operations. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: seventeen (17) locally fabricated single barrel guns, charms, four (4) barrels and some blacksmith tools.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

SMASHING OF NOTORIOUS ONE CHANCE ROBBERY GANGS/ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT

On 22nd July, 2019 police operatives acting on tip off have smashed a notorious gang of inter-state “one chance robbery syndicate”.

The suspects one Chikezie Ugwu ‘m’, Kelechi Edeh ‘m’, omoba Frank ‘m’ Patience Ishaya ‘m’, Rita Mathew ‘f’ and Faith Gaiyus ‘f’ were trailed and arrested at Bede in Kaduna while escaping from Abuja to Jos, Plateau State.

The gang which has been on the Command wanted list for it nefarious activities, often alternate its operations between Abuja and Jos to avoid police arrest.

One ash coloured Golf 3 with registration number XB 386 KEF and a razor blade were recovered from the suspects as exhibits. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

On 1st August, 2019, acting on intelligence operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) busted another one chance robbery syndicate which operates between AYA (Asokoro), Kubwa, Zuba and Nyanya axis.

The syndicate operates in a black golf 3 car loaded with bags of pure water (sachet water) to allay any form of suspicion.

The suspects arrested are: one Oryu Ugo ‘m’, Terdoo Zugo ‘m’ and Monday Gowdin ‘m’. The suspects who have been evading police arrest were arrested at their hide out in Uke, Nasarawa State. One black Golf 3 car with registration number EY 698 ABJ has been recovered from the suspects as exhibit. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

On 3 August, 2019, acting on tip off, SARS operatives from the Command arrested one Peter Achaku aka Promotion ‘m’ and Anthony Tega ‘m’ members of a notorious one chance robbery syndicate who operate in a green colour golf 3 car with registration number KEF 231 AA along AYA to Zuba axis.

The suspects who pose as cab operators to rob their unsuspecting victims were arrested at their hideout in One man Village, Nasarawa State.

On 23rd June 2019 at about 2100hrs eagle eyed police operatives from the Command Anti-One Chance Unit arrested one Chukuwjekwo Ozoude ‘m’ and Emmanuel Robinson ‘m’, members of a notorious one chance robbery syndicate operating along Gwarimpa-Kado axis.

The suspects were arrested at a Police stop and search point in Kado while to escape after sighting the police operatives duty.

The suspects confessed during interrogation that they belong to a one chance robbery syndicate operating along that route.

The exhibit recovered from them include: one ash colour Mazda with registration number KUJ 791 AO, two phones and the cash sum of thirty-six thousand naira robbed (proceed of the crime).

ARREST OF CULTISTS/ RECOVERY OF FIREARM

On 25 June, 2019 following a report that one Sadiq Adam was murdered during a bloody clash between two rival cults groups of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and Neo Black African Movement in Gwagwa, Police operatives acting on tip off arrested one Onyekachi Ozor who shot the deceased with a locally fabricated pistol.

The Command has also arrested one Emmanuel Folorunso ‘m’ 19 years, Monday Jackson ‘m’ 19 years, Mamuda Abdullahi ‘m’ 19 years, Samuel Johnson ‘m’ 22 years and Andy Amos ‘m’ 21 years for their roles in the clash between the two rival cult groups.

One locally fabricated pistol, one expended ammunition, two live ammunitions and some charms suspected to have been used to perpetrate the crime have been recovered as exhibits. The suspects will be arraigned in court when investigations are concluded.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARM

Sequel to an ongoing investigation, operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested one Michael Olajire ‘m’ armourer of a vicious armed robbery syndicate that is notorious for raping its female victims during it robbery operations.

The suspect who has been on the run following the arrest of some members of his gang in 2018 was arrested at his hideout in Byazine, Kubwa.

One locally fabricated pistol and two live ammunitions have been recovered from him as exhibits. He will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARM

On 23/6/2019 at about 2330hrs eagle eye police operatives attached to the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while on stop and search duty along ACO estate, airport road intercepted three armed robbery suspects with one locally made pistol, one live cartridge and some dangerous weapons.

The suspects who confessed to be members of a notorious armed robbery gang that operates around Lugbe and ACO axis were arrested in a taxi by the vigilant police officers.

The three suspects, Moses Fidelis Okon ‘m’ 22yrs, Hassan Usman ‘m’ 23yrs, Onyekachi Ugudu ‘m’ 21yrs all of Gosa Borehole were arrested in possession of the following exhibits: one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one cutlass, one Dagger and a wood laden with nails (used to attack their victims).

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

FOILED ARMED ROBBERY/DEATH OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF FIREARM

On 25th June, 2019 at about 0130hrs following a distress call that a section of the Gwagwalada Abuja-Lokoja express road was barricaded by some dare-devil armed robbery suspects, Police operatives deployed to make the road accessible to commuters were engaged in a fierce gun battle with the hoodlums, who opened fire on sighting the police team.

As a result of the gallantry and superior gun power of the policemen, the hoodlums who sustained bullet wounds were forced to escape through the nearby bush, leaving behind their severely injured colleague.

The injured suspect was later certified dead by medical doctors when he was rushed to hospital for treatment. One locally fabricated pistol and one cutlass were recovered from the bush by police operatives while combing the area.

Efforts is being intensified to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY/RAPE SUSPECT

Operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested three armed robbery suspects who raped a 13 years old girl during a robbery operation at Apo resettlement on 14th May, 2019 at about at 0200hrs.

The three principal suspects, Zaradeen Muhammad ‘m’ 19 years, Abubakar Sani ‘m’ 18 years and Salim Adamu ‘m’ 19 years took turns during the operation to rape their victim before escaping with a Toyota corolla and cache of jewelleries belonging to the victims’ mother.

Also arrested is one Kamal Lawal ‘m 19 years, The exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one red Toyota corolla, one laptop, one phone and the number plate of the robbed car.

Effort is being intensified to recover the car and all the stolen items. The suspects will be arraigned in court when investigation is concluded.

ARREST OF PHONE SNATCHERS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

On 3rd August, 2019 at about 0600hrs following a complaint, Police operatives from Wuse Division arrested two notorious phone snatchers who attacked their victim at about 0430hrs at Moscow night club Wuse and robbed him of his two phones (one infinix and one Techno sparks phone) and .

The suspects, one Abdulmumin Kabiru and Sabiu Nasiru were arrested by police operatives at a canal in possession of the two phones robbed from the victim. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARM

On 15th July, 2019 following distress call of armed robbery attack at Koyemi village Iddo, Police patrol teams from Iddo Division deployed to respond to the distress call arrested one Jeffrey Guobadia and Alli Mohammed both males of Toge village Iddo while trying to attack one of their victims.

One locally fabricated pistol and one long dagger were recovered from suspects as exhibits. The suspects have been arraigned in court.

ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

As part of the Command determination to ensure that crimes reported are discreetly investigated and the perpetrators arrested, operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested seven (7) suspects for the theft of a safe containing large amount of foreign currencies from the Apo resident of one their employer.

One Samuel Tchikhi ‘m’ who was newly employed as a cook in the house conspired with his cohorts to move the safe from Apo in a taxi to Crush rock, Mpape where a hammer was used to vandalise it; and the cash contained therein shared among them. The suspects have made useful statements on their respective roles in the commission of the crime.

According to the suspects, the proceeds of the crime were used to buy generator sets, electrical appliances, and others items which have been recovered as exhibits. Some unspent cash have also been recovered from the suspects.

The suspects arrest are: Samuel Tchiku ‘m’, Francis Kpohouede ‘m’, George Akinto ‘m’, Donald Tokpe ‘m’, Honore Tokpe ‘m’, and Emmanuel Savi ‘m’ all from Benin Republic. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ADVISORY: The Command wishes to advise members of the public to always conduct thorough background checks before engaging the services of domestic servant.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF TOY GUN

Following a complaint, Police operatives have arrested one Sherif Kaliph ‘m’ who uses toy gun to rob his victims of their and other valuables.

The suspect was arrested at Lokoja, Kogi state. One Toyota RAV 4 jeep, one KIA Altima and one toy gunwas recovered from him as exhibits. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OS SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES/ RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

Following a discreet investigation, Police operatives attached to this Command have arrested one Chibuzor Anufuna, Sani Abdullahi and Abdullahi Danladi in possession of a Toyota Camry which was reported stolen in Kebbi state.

The suspect who have made useful confession to their involvement in the case will soon be handed over to Kebbi State Police Command for continuation of investigation.
