FCT Police nab Member of “419/ One Chance” Syndicate.

A member of a notorious 419 syndicate which specializes in picking unsuspecting passengers to unknown destination where they defraud them of monies and other possession has been arrested by eagled-eyed police patrol team attached to Karmo division.
The incident occurred on the 31st May 2017 at about 4.30pm when one Maryam Okon ‘F’ boarded a taxi from Area 3 to Mpape with two other male occupants.
While in the vehicle she engaged with the occupants in a discussion about dollar in their possession that needed to be changed.
She then parted with the some of N200, 000 naira after been hypnotized.
On realization of this, she raised an alarm before the suspects could flee the scene and they were apprehended.
Although members of the public attempted to lynch the suspects, the police teams were able to rescue the suspect from the mob and situation put under control.
 The suspect gave his name as Anthony Chukwueke ‘M’ 36 years while the driver of the vehicle who is also a fleeing suspect is at large and name given as Chukwu Emeka ‘M’.
A Mazda 323 with Reg. XE 425 GWA used by the syndicate as an operational vehicle was recovered.
A statement by ASP Usen Omorodion said, “The suspect has been charged at the Karmo Area Court and remanded in police custody.
 He is currently assisting in the investigation to apprehend the fleeing member of his syndicate.
The FCT police command used the opportunity to appeals to residents to be security conscious when boarding a taxi and avoid getting into conversations with strangers when boarding a taxi.
