FCT Police nab Serial Car Thief; Recover stolen Vehicle

The FCT Police Command has arrested a serial car thief while attempting to remove a Toyota Camry 2000 model car from where parked at NAICO office Central Business District with a master key.

A statement by spokesman of the command, ASP Omorodion Usen said the criminal was apprehended by men of anti-theft team on Wednesday 14th June 2017

He disclosed that the suspect named Emmanuel Lere aged 34years who had just served his jail term for a similar offence was released March 2017.

Usen said the suspect is presently in police custody and currently assisting in the investigation noting that the command is using the opportunity to warn car thieves to stay away from the FCT as it will continually suppress their nefarious act.

  In the same vein, ASP Usen said the command has recovered a Toyota Matrix with REG no KWL 25 NJ reportedly stolen on Sunday 11th, June 2017 belonging to Mrs. Ngozi Jega.

“The said vehicle was recovered in a short time and apparently undamaged by surveillance team attached to Durumi division FCT led by the DPO at Apo zone E on the Wednesday 14th June 2017.

He said, “No arrest was made at the time of recovery” adding that efforts are on to contact the owner and release the vehicle to her.

“The FCT command wishes to remind all vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are locked when unattended to” he further said.
