FCT Police Nabs 30 Car Theft Suspects; ‘One Chance Robbers’

The Federal Territory Police Command (FCT) on Tuesday paraded about 30 suspects arrested over offences bordering on car theft and ‘one chance’/armed robbery at the Headquarters of the Command in Abuja.
Parading the suspects, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Operations, (DCP) Bala Ciroma said the suspects were arrested in sting operations in the months of March and April around Abuja districts.
He said eight suspects were arrested over cases of ‘one-chances’ fraud and petty crimes and they are Chukwudi Orji, Emeka Osah, Uzomah Arungwa, Kingsley Kalu, Ikechukwu Stephen, Mohammed Surajo, Stanley Saka and Chinedu Igwu.
DCP Ciroma said the suspects were arrested while attempting to defraud their victims through posing as commercial taxi drivers, conspiring with their cohorts to forcefully collect money and valuables from unsuspecting passengers.

He said another method used by this category of criminals is to lure and extort money from their victims under the guise of helping them buy money washing chemicals.
Ciroma said the second group of suspects range from those arrested over car theft/armed robbery which included domestic servants who connived with others to steal their employer’s car.
The suspects includes: Felix Terhemba, Timothy Iornenge, James Mbanongun, Ishiwu Chukwudi, Prince Nkem, Yusuf Abubakar, Salisu Mohammed, Babangida Umar, Suleiman Umar, Mohammed Mohammed, Promise Markus and Abdulhamid Umar.
Others are: Chimezie Nike, Chika Hycenth, Buhari Musa, Zaradini Yusuf, Ismaila Bello, Kabiru Ibrahim, Mohammed Bashiru Musa, Vitalis Kenneth, Barka Bitrus and Mohammed Mustapha.
The police said cars recovered from the suspects include: Ash coloured Lincoln Navigator, Red coloured Nissan Quest, Navy Blue Toyota Camry, Black Hummer Jeep, Red Toyota Corolla, Navy Blue Volkswagen, Green Golf and Black Nissan Pathfinder.
Also recovered are: Ash Toyota Camry, Grey Toyota Camry, Ash Coloured Mazda, Black Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus Jeep and Ash coloured Honda Accord EOD.
