Two Nigerian Navy warships, NNS Karaduwa and NNS Ekulu on Monday 22nd July 2019, arrived the Sekondi Naval Base in Ghana to participate in the Ghana Navy’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations.
On arrival, the 2 NN ships were received by senior Ghana Navy officers led by the Chief Operations Officer Western Naval Command Ghana Navy at the Jetty.
The Commanding Officers of the 2 NN ships were subsequently briefed on the programme of events lined up for the celebrations.
On Day 2 (23 July 2019), the Commanding Officers of the NN ships (Commander DK Mallum and Commander A Zidon) paid a courtesy call on the FOC Western Naval Command Ghana Navy, Commodore I Osei-Kuffour who expressed delight and appreciation to the Nigerian Navy for sending her ships to support their 60th anniversary celebrations.
Osei-Kuffour also called for greater ties between the Ghana Navy and Nigerian Navy.
Thereafter, the 2 NN ships hosted a cocktail onboard for the visiting International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference participants.

Participants hosted included, Admiral JG Foggo (US Navy), Commander US Naval Forces Europe and Africa, Vice Admiral Jose Menezes, Commander in Chief of the Brazilian Navy Fleet, Chief of Ivorian Naval Staff, CNS Representative, Rear Admiral Aneke as well as top brass of the Ghana Navy and other visiting navies from Europe, the Americas and Africa.
The Commanding Officers and International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference participants were later hosted to dinner at the Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi.
Other activities included, novelty matches in football and volleyball btw the Nigerian Navy and her Ghanaian Navy counterparts at the naval base.
NNS Ekulu and Karaduwa cast off and departed the Sekondi Navy Base for Tema on 24 July 2019, to participate in other activities lined up for the ships in Accra.
