The new Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Yusuf has formally taken over command of the Division in Maiduguri Borno State.
Brigadier General Yusuf took over from his predecessor Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu who is on posting to Depot Nigerian Army as Commandant.
In a brief ceremony at the Headquarters of the Division, the new GOC was presented with the Division flag by his predecessor after signing the handing and taking over notes during the ceremony at the Headquarters of the Division in Maimalari Barracks Maiduguri, Borno State.

A statement by Brigadier General Sani Usman, Director, Army Public Relations said the highlight of the occasion was the inspection of Quarter Guard where old flag was lowered and new one hosted which signified the end and beginning of a new command.
General Yusuf hails from Yobe State and he is the 7th GOC of the Division since its formation in 2013.
He is a member of 37 regular course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and also an alumni of the National Defence College in Abuja.
Until his recent appointment, he was the Registrar of NDA.
It should noted that the 7th division of the Nigerian Army is located at the heart of the insurgency battle in Borno where the outgoing GOC, General Victor Ezugwu and the Chief of Administration, Army Headquarters, Major General Alkali, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, during a recent operational visit, escaped four separate IEDS booby traps from Boko Haram that would have blown them away.
