The General Officer Commanding 82 Division (GOC) Nigerian Army, Major Gen Adamu Abubakar on Friday 27th April2018 paid a one day visit to 13 Brigade, Calabar.
He used the opportunity to inspect renovated soldiers living accommodation and the newly replaced blown off roofs.
Abubakar also inspected the NDDC erosion control work at the Golf Section and the emerging massive erosion sites in 146 Battalion Calabar.
Thereafter, General Abubakar and his entourage visited Ikang border post/Ikang Jetty in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, where he interacted with troops and the local Commander Major A Mohammed.
He also inspected the gun boats stationed in the area for special combat and military routine expeditions.
At the jetty, Major Mohammed briefed the GOC on the security situation at the jetty and his entire Area of Operation as well as the achievements and challenges of the duty post.

In his remarks, the GOC emphasized the recurrent need for vigilance, alertness and decisive action as well as coordination/synergy among all the security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps Nigerian Immigration Service, and Nigerian Police Force deployed to the area.
Thereafter, General Abubakar arrived HQ 13 Brigade, ‘Akim’ barracks Calabar where he commissioned newly constructed and a few renovated projects.
They include the newly constructed 2 corporals and below quarters, construction of caved-in-septic tanks at the soldiers quarters and a few renovated works at the Roman Catholic Church.
One major highlights of the ceremony was the level of attendance, expression of happiness and gratitude by the soldiers and their families especially at the commissioning of the newly renovated 13 Brigade Medical Centre and the well-equipped post-natal Centre in Akim barracks.
The GOC commended the Commander Brig Gen I Isa for the quality works and its successful completion within a short period.
Among the personalities that graced the occasion were the State Director of Security and Commissioner for health Cross River State.
Others include the Commanders Amphibious Training School, 306 Airlift Group and Naval Commander as well as the representative of the Commissioner of Police Cross River State.
