Governorship Election: Ogun, Enugu Police Commands step up Security arrangements; Assures electorates of rancor-free polls

In view of the forthcoming Governorship and House of assemblies election slated to take place on the 9th of March 2019, the Ogun State Police Command hereby wish to assure residents of the State that adequate and elaborate security arrangement has been put in place in order to ensure a rancor free electioneering process.

To this end, all our Special Units and tactical Squads such as PMF, SARS, Anti Kidnapping/Cultist Unit, SCIID as well as all Area Commands and Divisions have been put on red alert to deal decisively with anybody or group who might want to foment any form of trouble capable of undermining the process of the election.

Also, The Command wish to state unequivocally that any act of thuggery, violence and hooliganism will not be tolerated from anybody no matter how highly placed the person maybe, before during and after the election.

Therefore, all law abiding Citizens of the State are hereby enjoined to go out and cast their votes on the Election Day without fear of any form of harassment or intimidation.

Three additional Commissioners of Police have been deployed to the State to supervise elections in each of the 3 Senatorial districts, their names and phone numbers are as follows:

In the same vein, the Enugu Police Command on Thursday announced the restriction on movement of vehicles, motorbikes, tricycles on Election Day.

A statement signed by SP Ebere Amaraizu, spokesman of the command said, “The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force Wishes to inform members of the public that ahead of the Gubernatorial and state Assembly elections slated for 9th march, 2019, that there will be restrictions of vehicular movement including that of motorcycles and tricycles across the state from 6am to 6pm on the said date.

“However, Ambulances, Fire Service trucks as well as other vehicles on essential duties shall be exempted from the restriction order.

“The command to this end advises members of the public to be law abiding and by adhering to this restriction order as security operatives have been directed to take necessary action in this regard.”
