Guards Brigade Commander, Brig-Gen UT Musa inaugurates Overhauled Operational Vehicles, Commissions Standby Troops Accomodation at 176 Battalion, Gwagwalada; Commend Commanding Officer.

The Commander Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Umar Tama Musa on Friday 22, February 2019 inaugurated 17 rehabilitated and refurbished operational Army B (Bravo) and A (Alpha) patrol vehicles including an Amoured Personnel Carrier at the 176 battalion of the Brigade in Gwagwalada, FCT.

Also commissioned was a 2 by 60 bed soldiers stand-by accommodation overhauled and upgraded by the Commanding Officer of the 176 battalion, Lt. Col Husseini Rabiu Toro.

Speaking after the inauguration of the overhauled operational vehicles and the standby accommodation, the Brigade Commander noted that the essence of having serviceable operational vehicles and equipment for the Army to perform its assigned constitutional roles cannot be over emphasized.

He said training and retraining of soldiers was paramount in the Brigade but noted that without available operational equipment for troops to carry out assigned directives, morale could be affected.

His words, “The operationalization and serviceability of these vehicles will go a long way to boost troops morale. The best welfare you can give soldiers is training. But aside the training, eqippment is paramount”.

Brigadier General UT Musa attributed the overhauling to the hardwork of Lt. Col Toro saying, ” These vehicles were already written off. He found them and brought them back to life and as you can see, they will go a long way in enhancing our duties.

“With the general elections holding the the country, there may be need to deploy troops to ensure peaceful conduct and trouble free environment. If such a need arise, you can see that we will be ready for such deployments especially in Gwagwalada area and envitons as well as other parts of the FCT and beyond.

Highlights of the inauguration and commissioning ceremony was a practical display of the capabilities of the rugged Bravo and Alpha vehicles by troops who displayed high morale before the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General UT Musa and the Commanding Officer, 176 Battalion, Lt. Col HR Toro.
