In furtherance to the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2019, Guards Brigade Nigerian Army on Saturday 6 July 3019 hosted its Camp Fire Night at the 7 Guards Battalion Parade Ground, Lungi Barracks Abuja at 7 pm.
A statement by the Brigade said the Camp Fire Night wad aimed at bringing Officers, Soldiers and Family members to celebrate the climax of weeklong activities that had been ongoing at 81 Division Lagos alongside other formations of the Nigerian Army.
The statement explained that the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) is an annual event which was first celebrated on the 6th July 1978, in solemn remembrance of that historic first shot on 6th July, 1967 which marked the commencement of the country’s 30 month civil war to keep Nigeria one.

“It was equally to bring to the knowledge of all Nigerian Army personnel and indeed all Nigerians the fact that the war was an unfortunate tragedy and the reconciliation afterwards should be instrumental to the strengthening of our national unity” it added.
It would be recalled that the theme for this year’s NADCEL is ‘Professionally Responsive Soldiering: A Panacea for Successful Military Operation’.
In a similar vein, the aheadquarters, Nigerian Army Garrison in Abuja as part of the activities marking the end of 2019 NADCEL and in line with the COAS directives organized a burnfire to round up the event.
Consequently, a statement by the Deputy Director,Army Public Relations, Col Ochagwuba said the AHQ Garrison conducted its own burn fire ceremony at Mogadishu Cantonment.
